I have some dreaded virus though I use Panda Anti-virus....it infects google and yahoo and when you try to search for anything, such as me trying to search for answers to how to get rid of this, it re-directs me to a page--DO NOT CLICK ON IT and I took out the // so it should not be a link http:ahomecareer1.info/
I did the malware thing last night, it supposively got rid of one trojan and two little things but it is still acting up.
Is anyone familiar with this and know how to rid myself of this darned thing??? Makes me wanna cuss. Why on earth do lame-a$$ people spend all their time developing viruses to make peoples lives suck? I mean, why do they get enjoyment out of it?
Thanks for any help you can offer
Kimberly

Hi Kimberly
sorry your computer got infected even though you use Panda Anti-Virus-which is one of the best on the market.....but even big name software companies get hacked into-so you cant blame yourself.......hopefully there is a special place in Hell for the folks that do this stuff.......till then I reckon you will have to get a whole new hard drive and reinstall the operating system provided you have a copy of it.......rebuild all your files......yes I know that aint good news but seems you have tried everything else..maybe someone else has better advice........
wish you luck
Tom

I don't know if our resident expert Daklander is reading this or not.
Here's all I know. First off, do you know how to put your computer into "Safe Mode"?

I've used Norton for some years and never had a problem. The only way I know how to get rid of a virus is to reformat the hard drive and reinstall. It hurts I know. Vic

Kimberly, If you haven't Google TREND MICRO HOUSECALL. They have a free virus computer check that I think will eliminate any viruses if you have any. It takes 20 to 30 minutes for the program to run but it's free.

Kimberly, I am not an expert by any means but lived with Windows for a long time before getting tired of the maintenance time required to keep the system going and made the move to Linux. Yes, the first thing you should try is booting into safe mode and running Panda from there. Once that's done it may or may not find what's left of the virus but it should. Check to see if Panda has a root kit removal detector and removal tool., If so, run it. If not, download, and run this. Then, run HouseCall, preferably also from safe mode. Then, go to Piriform, download, install and run CCleaner. CCleaner has a couple of different tools to scan for, find and remove unneeded files on the system and junk from the registry. This should but may not do the trick. There are a number of programs designed to protect your computer but there is no way to ensure you do not get infected again, even if you never get on the internet. Someone may send you a cd or dvd that carries a virus and once you open the file, view and image, listen to an mp3 or other sound file or run a program you would be infected. Realize too that there are drive by infections so all you have to do is go to a site and the virus hits you. Where does that happen? Oh, Microsoft was one site some time ago and there were others that belonged to major corporations so there's just no way to tell and the best bet is to keep your anti virus up to date. I would enable Windows System Restore as well. Though it does take up some resources it may well prove to be a good move by being able to go back in time before the virus got you. However, that is not a fail safe since some virus programs will hide themselves so well the restore brings them right back. For Windows, I do still have Window game and recording PCs. I run all the Piriform programs, and either AVG or Avast anti virus though Microsoft Security Essentials is quite good too. I use Firefox along with any protection tools available such as noscript & etc. While you may end up having to reformat and reinstall I rather doubt that and you should certainly not have to replace the hard drive. There were, and may still be, some virus programs that hit that destroyed the drive but they're not that common. The way I stay away from the malware and virus issues is by running PCLOS, a wonderful Linux distribution.

I had a redirect virus and tdsskiller and Stopzilla, and AVG fixed it for me. I'll say this about it, it's a frustrating virus. Not the worst, but among them. The fake anti-virus, that is the one you got to watch out for. It shuts everything down.

I have one thing to say. I can always count on the kind hearts on Just Plain Folks to be helpful. Every one of you offered wonderful advice. I am planning to try one or some of these things, also showing this to my brother as we try to figure out how to make this problem disappear.
The name of this site should change to
JUST AWESOME FOLKS!!! Thank you so very much to each and every one of you!!!
Sending my love your way!!
Kimberly

I deal with this stuff all the time. Do computer repairs since I was laid off. Trick with viruses is isolating which system files are cloned. Usually if you can get into the msconfig and start with basic drivers and go from there. You can email me if you like. I do remote repairs all the time. Had seven in the last four months that I had to cleanup. Usually a format is not necessary if one takes the time and patience to isolate and remove the bug. Sometimes takes hours sometimes days but if you stay with it it can be done usually Buddy
