Safe With Me © 2012 Roger Sosnowski/Janice Hopkins
Verse 1:
It was one more time losin’ your keys Caught you sayin’ prayers to St. Anthony And that familiar way you always drive to Church Couldn’t believe you missed that ‘ol right turn
Lift:
Longer pauses in the middle of thoughts Blank look in your eyes that said, I just forgot
Chorus:
Some days time is not your friend Strips a well-lived life of where it’s been A silent thief who steals the past Puts memories just beyond your grasp But Grandpa let me put your mind at ease Your memories will forever be Safe With Me
Verse 2:
You made it through Guam’s jungles in ‘44 Married your sweetheart, just back from war Worked hard in the mills keepin’ food on your plates Kept it all together, cause you kept your faith
Lift:
Things you love most deep down in your soul Slowly drifting away, I know they’re hard to let go
Chorus
Some days time is not your friend Strips a well-lived life of where it’s been A silent thief who steals the past Puts memories just beyond your grasp But Grandpa let me put your mind at ease Your memories will forever be Safe With Me
Bridge:
Don't Worry about those memories As they slowly fade away I've got them all and won't let go They're here with me to stay
Chorus
Some days time is not your friend Strips a well-lived life of where it’s been A silent thief who steals the past Puts memories just beyond your grasp But Grandpa let me put your mind at ease Your memories will forever be Safe With Me
Outro:
Grandpa, let me hold all those memories…. And they will forever….be Safe With Me

Hi Roger and Jan!
I love the song, My mother-in-laws memory is really going fast in her 90'S and my grandma died of Alzheimer. So many others will relate.
I think the bridge mostly repeats the last 2 lines in v1, and you might give some thougt into taking it somewhere else.
It's a great song!

Oh My gosh, this is beautiful! One of the most tender and heartfelt lyrics I seen from you two.
My hat's off to you both!

Hi Roger and Janice, This is a sweet lyric. A few comments below. Verse 1: It was one more time losin’ your keys Caught you sayin’ prayers to St. Anthony I'm not sure this line leads to the hook, well to me it doesn't.And that familiar way you always drive to Church Couldn’t believe you missed that ‘ol right turn Lift: Longer pauses in the middle of thoughts Blank look in your eyes that said, I just forgot Chorus: Some days time is not your friend Strips a well-lived life of where it’s been A silent thief who steals the past Puts memories just beyond your grasp But Grandpa let me put your mind at ease Your memories will forever be Safe With Me Verse 2: You made it through Guam’s jungles in ‘44 Married your sweetheart, just back from war Worked hard in the mills keepin’ food on your plates Kept it all together, cause you kept your faith I don't think this verse leads to your hook. I think you need to write it more like your 1st verse things he can't remember or maybe use every other line in it to validate your hook. You know you did this and this but you can't remember. Lift: Things you love most deep down in your soul Slowly drifting away, I know they’re hard to let go Chorus Some days time is not your friend Strips a well-lived life of where it’s been A silent thief who steals the past Puts memories just beyond your grasp But Grandpa let me put your mind at ease Your memories will forever be Safe With Me Bridge: Don't Worry about those memories As they slowly fade away I've got them all and won't let go They're here with me to stay To me this says the same thing as the chorus. Chorus Some days time is not your friend Strips a well-lived life of where it’s been A silent thief who steals the past Puts memories just beyond your grasp But Grandpa let me put your mind at ease Your memories will forever be Safe With Me Outro: Grandpa, let me hold all those memories…. And they will forever….be Safe With Me I think its really sweet and a lot of people could relate. Dottie
