This was originally posted by me after I did a long distance co write with Marc Barnette. MArc did the initial g/v for this song. This version is a step up with Nat Cisco doing the guitar and drums and Tammy doing the vocals. I hope you enjoy it. Thanks Nat and Tammy for bringing this a step ahead: http://www.soundclick.com/bands/page_songInfo.cfm?bandID=1103122&songID=11233255That’s My Mom @2011 Marc BArnette/Roger Sosnowski Verse 1 She’s a bonafide, certified, super hero In a flash each morning, goes to sixty from zero A voice like thunder when she says get out of bed Pulls together a breakfast from nothing in the fridge Dresses three people never misses a beat Her Prada business suit turns everyone’s heads At her office they depend on her Could never pay her what she deserves Chorus That’s my mom Where I come from I’ll probably be just like her with my own kids She’s right more times than I like to admit Sometimes we fight But most times she’s the bomb That’s my mom Verse 2 It’s kind of tiring when all you hear Is you two could be, twin sisters One part mother, two parts therapist When guys come around and want a ride And it’s her they always want to sit beside You ask how long you’ve gotta put up with this But when my first real love Billy broke my heart She was there to hold me in her arms Chorus That’s my mom Where I come from I’ll probably be just like her with my own kids She’s right more times than I like to admit Sometimes we fight But most times she’s the bomb That’s my mom Bridge I look at her, I see me I hope that apple doesn’t fall too far from the tree Chorus That’s my mom Where I come from I’ll probably be just like her with my own kids She’s right more times than I like to admit Sometimes we fight But most times she’s the bomb Ohh that’s my mom That’s my mom

Roger, Tammy and Cisco have given you a good demonstration of the lyrics and melody for this collab between MAB and you. It might be a tough market for 'mom' songs but this one should make some moms smile.

Hi Dan,
Thanks for givin this a listen and the comments. It was written with a young female artist in mind--but you make a good point. If nothing else it was a learning experience and a lot of fun. I'm real happy with the newer version that Tammy and Cisco provided. Thanks Tammy for your voc's on this one. We have never worked together before so I appreciate you adding your talents to this. Nat--not a bad guitar track if I say so myself, lol. Take care everyone, Roger

Hey Roger,
What a great mum song ! Very catchy, I can see this being used in all sorts of sitcoms / kids shows. There are not a lot of them around, so I reckon it would have a good chance at a pitch.
Music is really solid, as are the lyrics. For some reason, I don't think the vocal is sitting well. I know Tams has perfect pitch, so I can't quite figure it out. Perhaps the way the vocal has been treated, not enough depth or volume ?
See what the other guys think, it could just be me ? but, I'll come back and take anothr listen.
It's a real good piece of songwriting.
cheers, niteshift

niteshift, I had a hard time mixing in Tams' vocal. First there was a hiss issue which my buddy took care of. Then it was really lacking in bottom and presence but I know Tam is strapped for time so we went with it. It's only a reference vocal and she did well with that in mind. No matter what I did with EQ (and it was a lot) I couldn't get the vocal to mesh with the music as well as I would have liked---it seemed to sit on top of it. Thanks for the input.

Hey Zeek,
Ahhhh...... gotcha !
Yeah, it's really hard sometimes to get different audio to gel properly. In de-sseing the track, it's probably taken out some of the sweet spots also.
Could also be an input/recording problem. Did you recieve the track as a WAV or 320k mp3 ?
It's difficult to give such a trak more punch, but have you tried a 10ms/20ms stereo delay ? That will at least triple track it, and could give it more presence, and a fuller sound.
If that doesn't work, I think it's certainly worth re-doing. Tams has just the voice for it, and I reckon it's a winner.
cheers, niteshift

Well done.
I love the sentement.
The music is great and Tammy's vocals are just getting stronger with each song. Love the harmony in the chorus.

TV soundtrack for sure. Great job, but the market may be just a wee bit hard to find on the country charts.

Hi Niteshift, Thanks for the kind words. This song started form part of a conversation I overheard in a restaurant between a teenage(I'm guessing) girl and some guy she was talking ot. The "Mom's The Bomb" line I had never heard anyone say before--so I figured that was a winner, lol. I agree about the vocals--well actually the mixing--Tams is right on tone wise I think. Maybe Zeek and Tams might have another go?? Lol. I really like where they took it from the g/v stage, Thanks for giving this one a listen. take care, roger

Hi Nelson,
Sorry I took so long to get back with my response but I've been under the weather with the flu. Thanks for giving this one a listen. I'm glad you liked it. Take care, Roger
