A happy camper this week... 1. A piano rag of mine was picked up by ABC for seven promos: America's Funniest Home Videos, Dancing With the Stars, General Hospital, Modern Family, The View, The Middle, and Best in Film 2. One of my piano/violin tangos was used in the film "The Ingrid Clarfield Story" http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1816661/3. Two placements on The Chelsia Lately Show http://www.eonline.com/on/shows/chelsea/index.jsp4. One track in The Voice (NBC) These came at a good time. Now it's much easier to sell the Hollywood Strings and Mac upgrade spending to my wife Sandra. John

Congratulations John. I have a fair number of songs with a few libraries but not getting any success. Not much call for the genres I write in I guess.

Thanks Donna, Calvin, Everett, and Dan! I'll keep choppin' Dan! That's all I know how to do. Hang in there Everett. Most of my placements with libraries took 1-2 years after signing. Seems to be a waiting period norm. Best, John

Holy Matrimony, John:
How did I miss this post. I'm working on my "request for loan" letter as we speak. (Might even be able to buy some Panera bread with a "bread" loan from our foremost JPF composer and chain rattler! ...LOL!)
Seriously, I'm so proud of you.

Dave Thanks Dave! I'm still not quite ready to open my chain of banks, but I think I can manage a loaf of Panera Bread. It reminds me of a funny line in one of the old TV comedy shows (can't remember which one): "I'm still $999,999 short of being a millionaire". Best, John

I reckon I'll be eating a little crow about the debate Jody Whitesides and I had on exclusive libraries verses non-exclusive/retitle libraries. I'd mention it on the library thread I started, but I don't want to fire that thread back up. Anyway, it seems the best placements I get are with the exclusives. Furthermore, I've been notified by one of my non-exclusive libraries (actually two) that they're going the exclusive route. Seems Disney ABC is now reluctant to work with non-exclusives. So... I think it's time to funnel all my tracks from this point on to exclusive libraries. I still think non-exclusive/retitle libraries are a legitimate business model, however weighing-in on the influential force working against the non-exclusives, business-wise, it does makes sense to go exclusive. Best, John
