Tom,
There is something that puzzles me about this. A girl lives in Nashville and is going to Craig's List and advertises for songs? There are dozens of writer's nights, NSAI, ASCAP,BMI, Publishers, numerous web sites, and the entire town pretty much eats, breathes and sleeps songwriting. And they are looking elsewhere for songs?
What it tells me is that this person has no clue, has not enough common sense to look around them in what is in their own backyard. I wouldn't expend the energy sending them songs.

Hi Marc---well the internet is just how folks meet and do business these days............I use craigslist all the time........ for lots of things......musical and non musical........not everybody has got the time /budget or interest in going to the things you mentioned........if they wanna put out a cattle call and say send me songs well at least we know they are ready to screen hundreds of mp3s that will be sent......and since everyones songs are already in the net on JPF/FACEBOOK/MYSPACE-WHATEVER-not like you are risking anything..........well at least thats my view........some folks dont like to deal with craigslist......thats fine-to each his own.........I myself have never lost any money using it and I sure as hell havent wasted any time compared to all the running around I have done otherwise.......
best of luck to you in all your music projects
Tom

Tom,
I understand that. The problem is getting beyond supeficiality which the internet is the epitomy of. But I do understand people and a propensity for laziness and an entitlement culture. No skin in the game. But the outcomes are always pretty predictable.

Maybe they are looking outside Nashville because they know not every songwriter can live in Nashville. When you go fishing, don't fish in the same pond that has been over fished, look for a pond that has been under fished. There's bound to be a few large ones there that are hungry.
