Just a reminder: Elvis Presley died on August 16, 1977. Here is one of my songs. Any comments are welcome. Basic arrangement Midi file Rough demo: my voice + Ukulele In 2005, I wrote a french song called "Chanter comme Elvis." I did an english version in 2006. I made a few changes on the melody in 2008, 2009 and 2010. I hope this is the final(?) version. Sing It Like Elvis (2010 re-remake) ------------------------------------------------- Words and music: © Guy E. Trepanier, 2005 - 2010. All rights reserved by Guy E. Trepanier. Intro: 4 bars (key of E) How would you like to hear about, let's say, The greatest one, Elvis Aaron Presley? This handsome man was King of Rock and Roll Sang "Blue Suede Shoes", "Hound Dog" and "King Creole" How would you like to sing it like Elvis? How would you like to move it like Elvis? How would you like to swing it like Elvis? Give it a try and rock it li-ike Elvis Oh oh oh sing it like Elvis Oh oh oh move it like Elvis Oh oh oh swing it like Elvis Oh oh oh rock it like E-E-Elvis .... .... .... .... Elvis has left in seventy-seven He was at home when lights came from Heaven But still today he rocks the whole planet: Radio, TV, CDs and Internet How would you like to sing it like Elvis? How would you like to move it like Elvis? How would you like to swing it like Elvis? Give it a try and rock it li-ike Elvis Oh oh oh sing it like Elvis Oh oh oh move it like Elvis Oh oh oh swing it like Elvis Oh oh oh rock it like E-E-Elvis Come on and sing it like Elvis Come on and move it like Elvis Oh Baby swing it like Elvis Oh Baby rock it like E-E-Elvis Oh sing it like E...E...El_vis .... .... .... . Guy E. Trepanier, #167 Original french song: august 2005. Revised in 2006, 2008, 2009 and 2010.

So, this lyric was translated from french to english? Interesting, but what were the challenges involved? All I have is my highschool french and a few things I picked up from french guys I used to sail with on the Great Lakes. What did you have to do in translation to make the rhyme work? I noticed in the first two lines that the pronounciation of Presely was forced to rhyme with the word "say". Either that or the word "presley" was pronounced as it might be pronounced in french. Either way, nice stuff mon amie or ma petit fenetre (I didn't say my highschool french was good). There just ain't enough songs out there about Elvis. I wrote and recorded one a number of years back but my sonn in law (who is from Tennessee) tells me there is one line in it that borders on blasphemy. LOL Thanks for posting!!

Well done, can't imagnine the logistics of translation. Reminds me of some of my stuff from 15 years ago that still isn't finished. Gonna have to get back to those one of these days.
