Real wet ink, guys. Hadn't intended this, but it just pooped out. And yes, it does have music--a two-step, I think (though it'd be fun to have a sitar do the lead).

BLUE KRISHNA --J. Wrabek
[THE RAP: At the little tea house where we play on Sunday nights, there was a painting of Krishna around the corner—and he had blue skin. Prompting the question, “Why is Krishna blue?” (And that does sound like a song, doesn’t it?) I did a little googling, and found out why—and the reason doesn’t have anything to do with the song. The song is more about the Tinker Bell Syndrome—the idea that belief determines reality. (Which is why you’re supposed to clap to let the fairies know you believe they exist.) This is dedicated to Michael and Sedona, who own the tea house—and maybe to Krishna, too, who wasn’t that bad a dude.]
1. I found him at the Hindu store, standing by himself, A little kid, painted blue, way up on a shelf; They said his name was Krishna, he’s not important any more, And I could have him for a real good price from the little Hindu store.
2. He was one of umpty-million gods, always stayed a kid, Had to get an earthly job, to keep his family fed; He played the flute, and cows would moo—I guess he taught ‘em how— But that was years and years ago, no one remembers now.
CHORUS: So light the boy a candle, and call out his name, And tell him that the world might change, but some things stay the same; And chant the chant y’learned down at the little Hindu store, So Krishna won’t be blue any more.
3. Krishna wrote a book of rules for how folks ought to live, But no one paid attention, ‘cause he was just a kid; He might have been important once, back when the world was new, But folks all talk to Jesus now—and that’s why Krishna’s blue.
CHORUS: So light the boy a candle, and call out his name, And tell him that the world might change, but some things stay the same; And chant the chant y’learned down at the little Hindu store, So Krishna won’t be blue any more.
[LEAD BREAK—WOULD BE FUN TO HAVE A SITAR DO THIS]
4. [SPOKEN] So I took him home--the little kid [SUNG] who never got respect, The world could prob’ly use a few more deities like that: Working for a living, and always staying young, And playing songs for animals, and hoping people come.
CHORUS: And I’ll light the boy a candle, and call out his name, And tell him that the world might change, but some things stay the same; I’ll chant the chant I learned down at the little Hindu store, So Krishna won’t be blue any more.
END WITH: So Krishna won’t be blue any more. I found him in the Hindu store, [SLOWING DOWN] way up on a shelf…

If writing ever becomes work I think I'm going to have to stop

John, I hadn't thought of cowbells. I think you're right.

Thanks, Glyn. The comment from our local Writers' Guild was, "Joe, there's no dead animals in this."
I'll play it for Michael and Sedona (who own the tea house where I found the Krishna painting) tomorrow night and see whether they like it. If they do, I'll record it.

Hi, Joe! Nice to meet you!
I hope the tea house owners liked it... I would love to hear it.
As Lisa said, it is very enchanting... enjoyable read. Very well written. I think a dead animal would distract the charm of it, anyway! haha

Thanks, Jen. They did like it. Next step is to record it. I'd like to have a sitar lead, considering the subject matter, but I may have to settle for the Electric Banjo "emulating" a sitar instead. I think I can do that.
