Hey guys, Heres a track I recorded at home would be grateful for any input. I'm working towards an album so need your help on whether it should make it and anything else you think about it! Live Youtube Listen Here or my Website P.s if anyone wants to help me out and 'like' my facebook page that would be massively appreciated! Its acoustic Folk one called Suffer no More Suffer No More My soul’s been haunted by the sun It’s been trying hard not to hide But the world kept it inside And the shadows they deepened in my mind Shattered words that never were said Are the ones that imprint on my head But in the silent evening she knocked at my door And she promised me, I will suffer no more Light bends and it scatters on her face, Un-veiling a love to find Leaving the darkness behind To the widowed silence I must toast Its a long time spent in the dark When your never making you mark But Then In the silent evening she knocked at my door And she promised me, I will suffer no more She’s hearing my words, when I’ve nothing to say We’ve unveiled the light, and forgotten our mistakes The Scars are lost, and this head no longer sore And its time, that I suffered no more My soul been haunted by the sun And there’s glass all over the floor But I will suffer no more

Great sound you've got going Dave. Love the arrangement from the simple cello and guitar to the full band. Love the banjo. You've got a great voice.

Friggin' spectacular -- that's all I gotta say about this one. The instruments and vocals are great (nice harmony sounds in there). Just super.

Dave, this is an absolutely beautiful song. I love the interplay between the cello and other acoustic instruments, the melody.... I think this is great the way it is and you should put this on an album. Good luck! Your other music is beautiful as well. Listening to "Carve Me" on your Facebook page.

Dave, I am certain that there will be a time in the not too distant future when your career has taken off that I will be telling my friends "Dave's a good friend of mine and I used to give him advice when he was just starting out".
So here is my advice to you: "Keep it up you are great!"
I love this and love this direction. Beautiful recording. What a great sound. Tom

That video is beyond phenomenal!!!
Is that all recorded on one mic??? (OK, I see some other mics there). Is your guitar DI'd in? It sounds pretty "warm" if it is.
I hope you reach all of your musical dreams! (and keep that band together as long as you can -- add a percussionist, too!).
Kevin

Dave, You got to tell me how you got that sound in a live accoustic performance??? Did you over dub things? No mic for the cello, guitar and mandolyn? One vocal mic? How did you do that? It sounds so clean. Tom

To Kevin and Tom - Yes its all done live no overdubs or anything like that, just a little mixing. It was recorded on 3 or 4 mics I think A vocal, Banjo and one or two room ones. Guitar wasn't DI'd. In truth it wasn't too difficult to mix as all the instruments occupied their own mix space, and they're all good musicians and instruments which helps! glad you like it. Thanks to all of you and thanks for putting on your facebook walls and 'liking' my page, its all huge help and I'm forever grateful! Dave

Dave...Nice song, reminded me of Nick Drake, but with the combination of instruments you have their, their is no reason why you can't create a new "unique" sound of your own.I'm not really into the folk scene, but listening to this track, and the instruments involved,i could hear a "new " sound swirling around in there, add percussion for a bit of thump here and there, write some "upbeat" numbers as well, and iam sure you could come up with a winning formula, being different from the rest of the pack is what it is all about, that is what will get you noticed.Hey an English version of "The Pogues"..but with your own identity and sound,....Good Luck...Terry..

Hi Dave, Absolutely stunning, great writing, great musicianship, great and simple production. That's music. Love it. One suggestion I do have to make, it's not a critique, as such - more like if there was a wishlist I'd put this on it: Upright bass and fiddle, pleeeeeease! That would just be the icing on a very sweet cake, as it is... Michael

I'm with you there Mike!
We did try to get a upright bass player but he wasn't able to make it one the day!
Fiddle would be great too!

AWESOME SONG! Can't say enough about how much I like this one. Have watched the video at least 5 times. This is not typically my style of music but a good song is a good song and you guys delivered it extremely well. I have not yet listened to your other songs but I will get around to it soon for sure.
Really do not know who would not like this song. Should be on the radio or out there somewhere for sure.
