Or just the only one that knows what the internet is?
10+ years here and I haven't met 1 musician or been able to contact one on the internet...
It's weird!

Hi, Hagan! Yes. You are the only musician in Connecticut. You should have no problem getting gigs. LOL. I am amazed at the number of people who don't understand the value of networking on a board like JPF. But if you post it, they will answer. Eventually. The more you post and announce your presence on the board, the greater your chance of getting a response. Also if you do a search and put on Connecticut, you may be able to find regular posters who frequent the other forums. Keep posting!

Hagan,
We'll be coming through there in June. Come out and meet a bunch of musicians!

Hagan, I'm from waterbury Conn. but I have been living in the Buffalo area for over forty years now. I remember though that there were musicians in Waterbury when I lived there and I even knew a couple. If I ever return to Waterbury for a vist I'll try to get in touch with you and jam. Then you'll have at least one musician from Connecticut that you can say that you know. Frank V.

Hagan, you probably are. Connecticut is a small state.

There are a ton of musicians here in CT... a few pretty good ones, too. You just won't find most of them sitting at a computer. Head down to New Haven, where there's a music venue on every block and there's great support for original music. Hartford is lousy with cover bands and guys playing Jimmy Buffett songs in restaurants, but the city in general has no interest in new, original tunes. Whenever you have a free night, go out on the town & catch something live. You'll meet musicians in no time... ------------------ Shandy Lawson Folk-noir Ballads and Acoustic Brawls ShandyLawson.com Shandy's Soundclick

Hagan, Shandy is right... most of us don't get to the JPF boards (or online) as much as we could... especially those of us fulltime artists who happen to have fulltime day-jobs as well. That said, do you have a website? What's your musical style? Fill us in... Cheers, GMG +++++ Guy-Michael Grande Route Five Records www.cdbaby.com/guymichael2

Gimme a break. You've been living there for 10 years and never met a musician? There's a musician on every street in America. Where do you buy your strings, or sheet music?
Proof? Google: [your genre here (folk, rock, whatever) and [your town (hartford)].
So how are those re-runs on TV?

Thanks for the responses everybody!
Actually since I've been in Connecticut I've been working full time and doing the daddy thing... I really haven't been out to the clubs at all.
I used to gig alot when I lived in St. Croix, but since I moved back to the states the best I've been able to put together are garage bands doing covers in New York.
A few years back I posted some originals on MP3.com, but they were really poor recording quality and I didn't market them (got about 1000 downloads a year anyway).
For the past few years I've concentrated on switching to solo classical/jazz on a Nylon string guitar and just recently decided to buy some decent recording equipment and try composing again.

You know all those rock walls you see along the ground off the side of the roads? Yeah, lift a few of those up; we're under there somewhere! Random pockets of us here and there. go to www.ctsongs.com for the CT Songwriters Ass. We're a fairly active group, but people come and go.

Hey all,
I'm a songwriter from CT, mostly lyrics though. I've got one in lyric forum #3 right now called "One Day" if you'd like to check it out. My brother is in the CT band Red Light and is playing at the Mohegun Sun Wednesday night (4/6/11). He also does accoustic gigs with Rachel and the Rockers and Brannon/Waters throughout the eastern part of CT.
Take care, Gary
