Edit April 15th: There has been talk about this song on Philly's sports talk radio station 610, (WIP). They heard the song play at the Phillies ballpark, and the radio hosts heard it also on the CD's I left there two years ago. One host said "it was great song". I heard this from a friend who heard the conversations on that radio station. Another feather in the baseball cap of success for Scott W. Campbell's songwriting abilities! End of Edit. Baseball! "Opening Day": http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=6398000Playing again at The Philles and other parks for Opening Day! (mainly minor leagues). But, The Phillies were the first to play it and put in their annual play list for Opening Day. Once a year I sing there for 40,000! Ha! Mike Caro too! (Through the magic and convenience of recorded music media,,,The CD)! Way to go Scott! Thanks again!!!! Mike Caro played and produced! Oh yeah! A real "Diamond"! Enjoy! Well, I guess that is what you get when you mix a bunch of talent together. I liked the sounds of the crowd, it really brought the feel of the "day". Seems like a perfect opener song and was happy to listen to it.

Johnny,
Great song and very well performed and played. I don't mean to be a downer, and I hesitate to say anything, but man, this track is so over-limited it is distorting! Badly. Sorry, man. Love the song though...and I'm not even a baseball fan!
Matt
EDIT: It *could* be the mp3 encoding. Sometimes a bad encoder will make things sound really crunchy.

Tammy, Thanks for the listen and comment. That's Mike Caro's doing, (the crowd), along with all the instruments and production! Matt, Thanks! Just uploaded the version that should have been up. I had done several mastering attempts because I before was taking the CD to the Phillies Ballpark, and thought if it had even a slight chance of being heard by either the players in the clubhouse, or rarer yet, over the loudspeakers, (which it did!), it would need to be pumped up to cut through the crowd noise of the place. (not the crowd noise on the recording). So yes, I did more than the usual Hard Limiting. Then raised the volume. This version is less of that treatment, and clearer overall. Thank you for pointing this issue out. I appreciate your time and thought in helping this song's presentation. Cool! It;s still a hot mastering, but should be a better listen. Would welcome any more comments about that of course. Thank you for the high praise of the song. (A Scott W. Campbell song)! Mike Caro produced and playing of all instruments! Glyn, I;m one of your favorites?....I'm a somebody!!! I'm in the phonebook AND on Glynda's Hot List! ...Thank you! Glad you also liked Scott's song.

Well done guys. Hey Nelson I appreciated your comment on Roy & Helen Coopers song. But your complaint on my bass playing was warmly received and enough kindness and consideration to send me looking for your material to reciprocate. Lets go see

Matt, hanks again! I get carried away MOST times in wanting it to knock people over, especially for the stadium. I should have used that mastered version on the site to begin with. Thanks for your ears and caring!
Nelson, Yep, Scott and Mike's work was a thrill to have the privileged to work with. Made my job easy. Mike even directed me during the vocal session! Just had to show up!
Stan, I was in awe of the song and all that Mike played and produced, seemingly effortlessly, despite his illness. Amazing to witness his passion that overrides anything he is experiencing minute after minute. Others would be lying in bed moaning. Music moves him, and in great ways, as this music and production clearly demonstrates. Glad he got out of bed to record his parts and then deal with me on another day.

Man, I can't believe how I lost track of the time - been so busy at work I forgot what month it is. Then I open the paper and see the Phillies won their opener at home and wondered if they played the song again. Very cool, John - thanks for letting me know! Thanks for the nice comments everyone. I still remember writing this one at home. I thought that recurring riff was pretty cool. It probably would have just sunk into oblivion but I thought just once I'd get a pro to do a song of mine - and asked Mike to take it on. I still remember laughing in joy and amazement when I heard what he did with it. But it wasn't done yet - the singer (me) wasn't quite right for it. So I asked Johnny to take a crack at it. He drove all the way to Staten Island and recorded it at Mike's studio. Can you believe someone would do that for someone they never met? Sure I knew in theory that the internet could be helpful in collaborating but this one drove it home in a big way. And I made two great friends to boot! Scott

This sounds very good to me! I don't care for baseball but I love the song anyway! It's very nice! Dottie Scott even has a way with a song to bring in and hold listeners who don't like the topic! And the sound" credit goes to Mike Caro, who even directed me lone to line, in addition to playing all the music and production. That's saying something about those two! How lucky was I to have those two to hitch a line to?!

Thanks John and everyone else This wouldn't have gone anywhere John - not without your vocal and all your efforts. Can't thank you enough, Pal. Scott Efforts yeah,,,vocal? Most would do this song justice. I;m glad Sub didn't sing it before I got there! I would have been just eating pizza and saying, "Great! It's done"! The lyrics, melody, and sound of what all Mike did is where the magic is.
