listen here... http://www.soundclick.com/bands/0/calvinstewartNothing © words and music by C. Stewart ( Mar. 4, 2011 ) Before my life began I was nothing A clock that don't exist, cannot tick When I began to breathe I was something I said goo goo mama, watch me kick CHORUS..... I kicked and screamed and wet my diaper every chance I got I was very loud, and my face was full of snot I wasn't fun to be around, and nothing has changed I went to school each day And did nothing I couldn't stand that scene any more A teacher old and grey Was yelling something So I threw the old bastard on the floor CHORUS..... I kicked and screamed, bitched and moaned every chance I got I was loud, and I had a temper that was hot I wasn't fun to be around, but now something's changed I met a flower that's always in bloom She's lavender all year long She wants to dance through life with me "Love" is our favorite song I met a flower that's always in bloom She's lavender all year long I want to dance through life with her "Love" is our favorite song listen here... http://www.soundclick.com/bands/0/calvinstewart

Hi Calvin
Cool layering happening with this --I'm drawN to the sexy echo vocal ... aside from chuckling here and there -- it's a SeriouS and Sensual message here. The music has a cutting edginess here and there -- so I think it fits the category you chose. Good singing and recording work --- now will a 4 letter word like snot get censored these days ? I wonder ? ; )

Calvin, I like this. Very unique. Makes me think of CCR or something... Love this line She's lavender all year long --very nice.
I always get a kick out of your stuff...and how it pushes envelopes...

Hello Kimberly, Thanks a bunch for giving this one the time of day. It evolved from a thread about the subject of (NOTHING) over on the general forum by John Schick. Glad you could appreciate the Lavender part of the song. Calvin http://www.soundclick.com/bands/0/calvinstewart

Calvin,
Really like the opening music on this and the effects you use. I'm not so sure that I like the word "snot" in any song, but it may be because I have a two-year old with a cold...LOL!!

Unique Calvin! It works!! This is proof that one doesn't need a zillion tracks to pull off a great production. Best, John

Hello Calvin. Still kicking the out aren't ya?
This is edgy and I really like your approach to your lyrics.
Thanks for sharing.
Just had a listen to "Dandelions" and was wondering when you were going to do a cover of it in your original style?

Hi Doug,
Thanks for listening to me.
If I was as good as you maybe I'd try Dandelions :-) Your melody on Dandelions is BURNT into my mind. I just went and saw your video of it again and it sure is impressive when I hear you sing it. A girl at work says it's HER favorite song of mine. Thanks again.

More then welcome. I sing that song whenever I am going through those I love. So simple it works IMO.
BUT still would believe that in your style/voice and that melody it would sound neat.
Think about it.

I agree with Joice, I really like the mix.
As always my eyes are glued to the lyrics and you don't disappoint, my man.
The first chorus is hilarious but the song as a whole just works, for me. I even liked the sentimental, part about your lovely flower... You lucky devil.
Yet another, very creative piece.
Well Done

Calvinator, A nihilist redeemed by love. You've put your signature spooky stamp on this familiar theme. For some reason the mood of the music reminds me of Jimmy Morrison and the Doors. Maybe its the vibe of the music more than the sound of it. But there's no doubt this is a Calvin song.

Calvin, Nice job. I like the background music style and the story/message comes across very clear. Immediately takes me back to younger days and especially school and the "bastard teacher". (At least I thought they were back then and now I think I am that guy!) Appreciate the music. Always refreshingly different. Ricky

Hello Ricky, Thanks for listening, I appreciate it. And yeah, I alsp appreciate the teachers that had to put up with me. I wasn't a real problem in class, just not very interested. Calvin http://www.soundclick.com/bands/0/calvinstewart

Another Calvinator special.
That reminded me of one of my peers in High School. I would not say his name, but I remember him attacking a teacher. Pretty dramatic. He was into nothing until he found something.

Hi Doug, Good to see ya ! attacking a teacher --- wow, that really is dramatic, not cool ! As a kid, the authority figure can appear to be the enemy. I know if I had to do it all over again, I'd try to learn all they had to offer. Calvin http://www.soundclick.com/bands/0/calvinstewart
