Just a fun little blues number. Lyrics written on the fly - no pun intended - during 50/90. Music/instrumentation/vocals: Ken Damkier Lyrics: Donna Devine Hope you enjoy. Donna http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=9993133Frequent Flyer I'm a frequent flyer, baby Fly right into women's arms I'm a frequent flyer, baby I fly right into women's arms I can drop my landin' gear Can't do nothin' 'bout my charm I told the gospel truth, darlin' Now why you hatin' on me I told the gospel truth, darlin' Now why you hatin' on me You were a fine stopover But it's time to let it be I said right from the start, girl Just wanna have a little fun I said it right from the start, girl Just wanna have a little fun I stay too long on the ground, babe My engine's not gonna run I'm a frequent flyer, baby Fly right into women's arms I'm a frequent flyer, baby Fly right into women's arms, yeah I can drop my landin' gear Can't do nothin' 'bout my charm Bridge Lock up your hangar Ain't stayin' that long Got a one-way ticket to somewhere else Maybe that's wro-o-o-ong But I'm a frequent flyer, baby I fly right into women's arms I can drop my landin' gear Can't do nothin' 'bout my charm

DM & Ken,
Given the parties involved, my expectations going into this one were high (no pun intended), and you didn't disappoint. It's HOT!
The lyrics are terrific. You know I'm a big fan of word-play, so I LOVED all the airline references and how you used them to the illustrate the scalliwag's M.O.:
I can drop my landin' gear Can't do nothin' 'bout my charm
I did have a bit of a chuckle at one point Donna, since another term for STOPOVER is of course LAYOVER. Considering the context, I think you made the right choice.
Musically Ken, you nailed it. The vocal has JUST the right amount of nonchalance to sell it. I love the fact that he seems indignant at her distress. MEN!!
Anyhoo you two, nice job!!
Beth

Ohh, you guys, this is KILLER! The lyric is CLASSIC blues, Donna, and no better way to treat it than with Ken's tender soaring blues guitar. Robert Cray & even Albert King vibes in there, I think.. Brilliant writing!
The track breathes and sound great overall. Did you have your wonderful band doing the backing, Ken?
Looking forward to see this on a record of yours soon, Ken. Could be great for licensing opps as well. In tv/film land they are often looking for real blues like this.
Over the top, notch!
Congrats on a great collaboration

I knew this one was going to be great and there was no disappointing! Ken has this outrageous "up-close" vocal recording technique that always seems to work. Cool music all around and the lyrics fit in just right.
Nice blues guitar solo, too. What's not to love?

Hey Donna,
I agree with everyone above, this is just GREAT! I'm amazed some people can still write Blues today and make it sound new! There's some Voodoo magic involved, I think!
AWESOME job, music, lyrics, performance, production. Well done!

Thank God, a guitar solo on here! Kick-butt song you two. Love the old blues. Now I'm gonna dig out my SRV and listen.
I have music for all of my songs and they vary from rock to country to folk and everywhere in between. (except rap)

Hi DM, There seems to be a whole lot of flying going on around here! This is so cool! It was such a treat to hear Ken play and sing again. He's been gone too long. And DM, you gave him some great lines to sing. Really well done. Ricki

Donna, Love it! I spend a lot of days having the "Bluesville" XM/Sirius station in the background as I work during the day. Love the Blues and this song is a great example of the Genre. The lyrics have the right "twist" that makes the listener want to hear the words (sometimes Blues folks get so caught up in the music that they fail to hear the words). Yours were perfect. As others said, love all the references to flying and you tied it all together so seamlessly. The music and performance. Not much else to say other that YEAH! WELL DONE. Mark

I'll compliment you on the vocals, the production, etc. But, as the father of a 15 year old girl, I really couldn't relate to how irresistable your "landing gear" is. Definitely did not work for me. Ott

Ricki, Mark, and Ott, thanks too for chiming in here and commenting. Mark, I'm pleased to think the song would sit comfortably in the "Bluesville" XM/Sirius station background. Donna

That is one smooth scoundrel! Fluid old school blues! This is definitely ON THE MARK! It's been a while since I've heard any blues that truly blew me away and this did exactly that. Kudos all around for sure.

DM and Ken. Fantastic!!! You said when we Skyped that you wrote blues tunes and you most certainly did. Lots of fun and had me flying along. Thanks for sharing and keep them coming. Douglas
