The link to the rewrite has been removed... the original is now the final! Thinkin' Bout Him© 2011 Greg Swartzentruber/Greg Shields She’s got that faraway look in her eyes She stares out the window and wistfully sighs I know where she’s gone But can’t ever let on When I ask her about it she lies Cause she’s thinkin' 'bout him A love lost in time A wild crazy youth Her life in its prime She’s been there before, she’ll go there again And all that I know is she’s thinkin’ 'bout him I had to stop asking, not that I don’t care But there’s some things that lovers ought not to share I know I’m a good man Love her best as I can Sometimes she just needs to go there Where she’s thinkin' 'bout him A love lost in time A wild crazy youth Her life in its prime She’s been there before, she’ll go there again And all that I know is she’s thinkin’ 'bout him There’s no need to be jealous We all have our pasts There’ve been other fellas But I’ll be her last And that’s why I really don't mind If she’s thinkin' 'bout him A love lost in time A wild crazy youth Her life in its prime She’s been there before, she’ll go there again Where all that I know is she’s thinkin’ 'bout him

Wow! You have one of the best voices and overall presentation styles that I've heard on this site. You sound like you should be on the radio. It's really that good to me. Your voice (and this song) reminds me a little of the guy from the 80's who sang the song "Bluer than blue." The lyric is like a rehashing of the Eagle's "Lyin' Eyes" but your wording is fresh and I especially love the chorus of this song. I don't know if I could be as understanding as the singer about my wife's (or girlfriend's) infidelities but it's a great song and you present it wonderfully. Great luck with getting it out there

Thanks for listening folks!
Bobby, that's the other Greg with the fantastic voice and presence... He's a special talent, and his time is coming!
I find it interesting that you interpret this as referencing infidelities. I NEVER saw it as that... In my mind, the lyric is referencing a love which existed PRIOR to the one the singer and her are involved in now... It's a previous love from before she knew him, not an infidelity... Gonna have to think about why it took you there... I may have to make a few things more clear if others think the same.
Thanks again!
Greg

We have some serious interest in this one, but they want us to change it in a way which will remove your concern, Bobby. We have done the re-write and should have it audible soon... Our fingers are crossed...

Hey Gregs',
What a well written and constructed song.
I like the fact that you've kept it just a simple guitar demo, that makes it very simple to translate it, wherever someone wants to takes it.
I'm not too sure about that opening riff. It's very well known from a previous hit song ( can't pinpoint it at the moment ), it's a well used run down. But.... if you just chopped it in half, it wouldn't be recognisable.
Other than that ? No nits here. It's a fresh take on an old theme. ( and very usable )
cheers, niteshift

Thanks Geoff! I appreciate the listen and comments... I'll talk to the other greg about that riff... it's a great riff... I'm hoping maybe it's just soo cool that it sounds like someone should have done it... We'll see. Thanks again!

Hi Guys. Upon doing a closer re-read of the lyrics I can certainly see that this song was presenting just a "mental" infidelity and not a physical one. I don't really think it's a weakness in the lyric that some might interpret it, like I did, incorrectly. I like a little suspense in a song and perhaps more than just one interpretation. That said, however, if someone who could make something of the song has shown some interest in it and has asked for some minor changes, I would probably be willing to entertain that conversation. Anyway you look at it this is a really good song and deserves to get out of the incubator and into the world. I still love listening to it.

Thanks again Bobby. We should have the new version in a day or two. We are hoping it still has the same magic that Greg captured in this one... (dare we hope for even a little more magic?)

Hi Greg & Greg,
Very well done. The lyrics are well written, the music is perfect for it and the playing/singing is really sweet. I'm a big fan of a simple g/v. I hope it all works out for you.

I'm not typically into country, but I really really like this song and the song lyric does a wonderful job of conveying emotion. It's easy for me to actually "picture" what's going on. I love songs like that.
