Hi Guy's Longtime no type. I've been busy playing, practicing and more importantly falling in love. Her name is Les Paul and she's a 57 reissue goldtop VOS. It was love at first strum and now all I have to do is get saving so that I can free her from that horrible guitar shop that she's trapped in. Anyone out there ever played one of these amazing Custom shop Gibson’s? Rgds Andy

I have a friend that bought a early Gibson Les Paul probably an original in the 50's. A guy needed money and my friend bought it for about 50 dollars. Money was tight in those days. About a decade ago he sold it for about 2600 dollars. I think it also was a Gold color.

Well Ray if your mates was an original 57 Goldtop and he still had it now he'd be getting around $250000 plus, as that's how much one went for at an auction in Boston a while ago. A quarter of a million for a guitar!

Andy, That's beautiful. If I was to spend a pile of money on a new LP, that one would be on the list to check out. I am pretty fussy about the feel of the neck because I can't handle one that is too fat due to an old hand injury - not sure what that one feels like. I own a Les Paul from 1978 that has a natural maple top and it looks a bit like a goldtop from a distance. Save hard and have fun!
