Oh my....
I don't like tension...
I believe that the focus on me...someone who is a mediocre singing talent at best getting attention beyond the actual songwriting (lyric/melody) is where the upset was. I think it is believed by some that comments to write and produce a good song are the intentions of interest here, if this goes for a pro-demo, I won't be singing it..yes?
No one will ever hear me singing these songs beyond this board post mostly, I appreciate the help, I want everyone to understand that I do put forth my best efforts to communicate the words and emotions of the song and apprecite the helpful comments.
I would like to see this song succeed and move to the next level. To do that, the lyric needs to take a step forward and Andy will (and I'm sure he is) pushing himself and I will do the same, but if folks would like to hear this song with a real professional or better singer, I would gladly give it to someone who can take it where it needs to go, because my goal here is the song (lyrics and melody) and what is best for it.
It is a difficult work of the heart to change, and Andy, Jennifer and I are taking on this challenge out of great mutual respect for one another and our belief in the potential of the song and also because of your support that all of you have given, it has given us the courage to try this again and we are thankful for it.
I record with a Tascam DR-07 in a shower (FULLY clothed..had to make that clear again for some...LOL). There are few setting adjustments, it is a basic model, but the ones there are, I have no idea what they do or what they should be. I am trying my best to improve what I can within my own personal limitations and with your guidance, I am reading and listening, but the fact that I won't be the singer of these songs is...ummm...a little un-motivating for me to invest money to just send the song for someone else to sing.
So, I will try my best, I am open to any and all comments and suggestions and if anyone feels that they or someone else can sing this song better, that is fine, I will step aside for the song, I want it to be the best that it can be.
So...please keep the mood positive, let's agree to disagree and move on and please keep the helpful comments flowing, we are really working hard on this and we need you all.
Tammy

Tams this is the way I see it.....you are quite a good singer....you have a better singing voice than some pros I could mention. As I said earlier you need to get better recordings both for the sake of the songs and for your own good.....this was meant as positive feedback and not as a downer. I see no reason why you should not push yourself and strive to improve your singing technique and to invest time and possibly some money into your hobby and talent. There is a whole tech forum where you can ask for advice on how best to use the equipment you have and what inexpensive equipment might be available for you to improve your recordings. For example the best recordings are made when avoiding shiny hard surfaces. You choose to record in the worst shiny hard surface area imagineable...a shower. So that is one thing you can learn FREE OF CHARGE. We are here to help if you only just ask. I aplogise for the negativity that crept into this thread BUT that was not of my doing. So we will all move on.... BUT please ask for help and it shall be given.

Hey Guys,
Wow.
I haven't heard a natural track like this, for some time.
First - kill that damn drum intro. It doesn't fit.
This is a really well structured song. Very good harmonics and arrangement. Lyrics are engaging and mellow.
I can't really suggest anything towards the song as written. It's just beautiful.
As to it's production, yep, it needs some work to present itself in it's best light. Harmonics are needed in the chorus. Brightness and clarity ar needed in the main vocal line. Arrangement is spot on. Don't mess with it ( apart from the drum intro ) Nice work.
Keep gong. It's engaging and a damn good listen.
cheers, niteshift
PS - I'd produce it for you, but it's way too good for me. It's a winner.

Donna,
I think the work and advice you are giving is fantastic, I really appreciate the time you took to type that all out and I do agree with you, but the phrasing issues became a bit overwhelming for me and I was enslaved by the beat..small problem of mine..I will try hard to correct that. Thanks!

Big Jim...
Thank you for re-visiting..I don't think you should have to explain your comments, but I do appreciate what you have said. I have moved my "recording facility" to the basement, it is make-shift and the oil burner kicks on and ruins my recordings and straddeling the air purifier while singing is a challenge, but at least the "singing undressed" comments will stop....Now I'm like Harry Potter, I'm under the stairs...maybe I'll find some magic!!

Tammy Hi Tam Your very welcome. I'd been meaning to get to your threads and got to three of you's at once The more passion and effort and potential a song shows the more it makes us chime in and pitch in to help. So even the conflicts are inspired by the enthusiasm and the passion, and that's a good thing. All The Best Mike

Tammy Tams thanks for your reply......well the basement is an improvement and progression from the bathroom....maybe one day you will progress to the living room or bedroom where most people set up their portable home recording facilities. LOL

My friends vocal booth was under his stairs, sitting. and he gave lessions as well.
I think the electric meters played havoc though.
Well done all the same Tam.
I always enjoy what you do

Hey, I am back again. Very good song and great collaboration. Almost comes close to a Natalie Merchant type feel to some of the singing/phrasing. ...someone who is a mediocre singing talent at best ...No one will ever hear me singing these songs beyond this board post... That makes me a little sad, because you are a very good singer -- and there aren't enough of you out there in the world. I believe, though, you are gaining confidence in your singing and one day you are just gonna bust out! I record ... in a shower (FULLY clothed..had to make that clear again for some...LOL). That makes me sad, too -- but for a different reason (ha, ha). Kevin

Hi Tammy, Jennifer, & Andy Tammy, you are just going in leaps and bounds, and it's so great to listen to you growing, I too would love to see you record in a studio Tammy, you've got a unique vocal, you sing with your soul, beautiful. The best advice I can give you all, is listen to your critic's, hmm, maybe not all critics, LOL, I can tell yah, that the one's your getting is great advice, believe me, if a song has any potential, continue to work hard on it, because when you get it to that potential, it is worth all the work you do. If use make any changes, I'd love to listen again, so please PM me Tammy, cause I wouldn't want to miss it, thanks. Hugs Michele

Hi I just wanted to share with my co-writer's some comments I got on this song from facebook listeners. It is still being enjoyed.
Nechama Godbey Too Hallmark, you say??? That is funny because not everyone wants to hear or listen to today's style of music which oftentimes contain provocative lyrics. You song actually reminded me of some of the songs the late Luther Vandross use to sing, cool, smooth, romantic, jazzy. I though your song, was GREAT! And it had a powerful message , not just for women but I think men could probably relate as well!
But what do I know??????
Stephanie Gonzalez Jennifer,
I listened to your song and I thought it was GREAT!!! I honestly don't think anything should be changed.

Forget about the vocal and drums production for a moment and you get a great song any whichway. The feeling projected in this vocal is to my mind outstanding. I believe every word Tammy is singing is heart felt and the lyrics and melody grabbed me by the heart. Vic

Thanks Vic for your support. I know a bit more work can be done on the production but overall I think it turned out nice as do many who have heard it even off of this site. I just wanted to copy some notes I received from strangers who went to Tammy's soundclick page to check it out. As always, I appreciate your kind feedback.
