Hi, I would like to introduce a new website focused to help artists and bands to promote their music on a network of listeners: www.tweewoo.comThe site is currently in beta version and we require some artists and bands willing to upload their music, albums, videos, concerts... to test the site in deep. If you are interested please signup here, it's free! http://www.tweewoo.com/signupOn all site's pages you will find a "Report a Bug" link to send to us the problems you may found. In exchange your account will be funded with $25 that you can use in promotion (in a couple of weeks the site will be fully working). Any comments and feedback will be appreciated. Thanks.

Dear Ramon, I can't find the upload button ...
1 MP3's have to be 124 won't load others, do realise it saves space but not good quality - had to convert mine back down 2 Managed to login and upload one song. It is not very clear as to how to manage media and I can't find the upload button to add more ... that is a serious oversight when dealing with artists ... to put it bluntly "where the F**K is the upload button?"

Ramon,
Why don't you explain your site in greater detail? Do you have quality opportunities/contacts in the USA you can name? How about something that sets you apart from all the others just like you? Do you have a level of professionalism that makes you better? Let's wait and see.

Hi Brian, I'm sure they will get back to me and it is only in beta but that is a massive oversight on their part, I sent a message to them and hopefully they'll reply, these sites are good for artists who just want to put their music out and I put mine on most of them and just leave them there.

These type of music sites are kind of passe. Speaking for myself, I'm burned out from them. Nothing to offer but a phony top ten chart.
I'm with Brian. Send more info.

I recently spent quite some deleting accounts with all manner of music upload sites, some of which I had long forgotten - I actually had to google myself to find some stuff! Most of these mini-OMDs are just worthless. Dan

They are usually email/contact list aggregators who don't really care what you think or say about them as they are empty shells. Others are launched by venture capitalists who stupidly think they can make money directly off of artists beyond little old ladies who are too uninformed to protect themselves from being ripped off. The third group are 100% scam artists start to finish. There may be a 4th group that are sincerely trying to do something. If you ever find one, let me know.
People who have actually spent their lives helping the community without asking them to pay you money understand how pointless that is. Artists have no money to spare. Those that do are often hobbyists with good paying day jobs who rarely can compete with the top talent out there who are full time artists. (There are exceptions, I know some of them well, but across the millions of people who say they write songs or are musicians, only a small % are commercially viable AND have money to pay to a site). But musicians DO buy products and services. Sadly, there's the MOST money to be made simply aggregating information and selling it which JPF does not do nor will ever do, but whom nearly all large sites do on some level. Magazines traded mailing lists all the time.. most are out of business. Our most valuable asset is our member list and the last thing I am going to do is sell or rent it and make it instantly worthless.
I haven't heard of a recent launch of any new company that has a legit benefit to the artist or writer community. I think I can count on my fingers the totality of websites that have anything to offer musicians for real. (Maybe one hand). (I am not including companies that sell stuff or services and have a website, I mean all these "sites" that try to aggregate music for some purpose).

I've never actually paid for any music site, beyond my own website's webspace/domain. When I first 'discovered' the existence of music distribution on the internet (which was only about 5 or 6 years ago) I was quite amazed by all the stuff that was about, 90% of which turned out to be quite worthless. There are exceptions (like ezFolk, for example) but really it is only the creation of networks of like minded folks that has any real meaning as an alternative to the actual music 'industry'. One side effect of all this for me, ironically, has been that I now take all my music stuff much more seriously - heck, might even break even some day soon! Dan

Yeah, the problem is no quality filtering, or for that matter self filtering. I've got so much music on so many sites, I've lost count. At one time I viewed it as "getting it out there". I now view it as "getting lost in the white noise". It also fragments any potential audience, and just makes it more difficult to reach a critical mass of listeners/fans. The above website has to compete with the big boys, where you can pull up virtually any known song from million+ catalouges, and stream and download to any app for a very reasonable monthly fee. They also have new music sections, so although I welcome new music sites, what is different here that would want me to sign up either as an artist or a punter ? ( And spend the time doing so ? ) Um, nothing really......... I use www.iacmusic.com as my "homepage", as I like the community feel of an indie site, www.mog.com to write reviews and press releases ( and as a blogger, they give you free access to all the streaming music you want for free ), and www.tunecore.com to distribute, as they're cheap and easy to use and provide a very easy aggregated accounting service. That works for me personally, and I'm sure other folks have their own personal views and preferences for doing the business, but have a similar set of tools which work for their own circumstance. In viewing this site, there's simply nothing new here. Convince me it's "better" and I may be bothered to spend a day of my time setting up and uploading. cheers, niteshift

Well they seem to be up and working now and sorting out some of the problems, regardless of what anyone may think of these websites they provide a vital distribution outlet for people who the industry has no interest in. However rubbish we may think some things are they is always someone who likes it.

But they couldn't be bothered to come back to one of the largest musician sites in the world and answer some questions or post more info? Frankly I put them on the unprofessional/worthless list for that reason alone. Spamming legit sites is stupid. If they are that stupid with their own PR, imagine how useless they will be for your stuff?

Hi Brian, it's never useless even if only one person listens to it. I just have more patience with people trying to do something, they are not asking me for money or charging people to listen so that is ok with me. How long they last will depend on how many people they attract and I've lost nothing if it shuts down in 6 months.
And maybe they didn't come back because they got no response ...

If you post a request on someone else's site and can't be bothered to follow up when there's a whole discussion about your post and questions left unanswered about your company, that is highly unprofessional and qualifies as SPAM. So now, when people search for this company, this post will eventually come up and people will read less than flattering comments about them. When you're launching a site, initial reputation is everything, otherwise you dig a big hole when there are new companies doing the same thing opening weekly, plus all those already doing it. So what is the point really?
But if they can sucker some nice folks like yourself to sign up, they may be able to make a few bucks selling you to others or off a few ads they may have negotiated. Perhaps your time isn't worth enough to you to be concerned with wasting it, but I'd say to others that they should be more focused on proven opportunities, or at least professionally run one that don't spam sites as means of promotion like porn sites and nigerian scams do. That's such great company to be in as a random spammer.

The original post reads like one of those emails I get asking me exchange links and/or review software. Usually followed up by a 'why no response to our generous offer?'...as Brian says, one random post = spam! Oh, and don't forget, that first post is $5 of the promo you get a $25 dollar credit for! Hi,
Thanks for your comments and sorry for the delay in reply. I'm very busy!
As you say, there is nothing different on tweewoo from other similar sites except the point of view. I have my own band and I have my music on many sites too. In most of these sites I have no chances to get discovered even paying some bucks for promotion because I will never be in the top of the charts or playlists. I have created this site as I would like it to be from the point of view of an artist.
Yes, there are top lists with the most played bands, albums, tracks, but the most important feature is that all tracks from all artists are played on radio randomly (if match the genre or tag, of course).
Listeners have a lot of chances to find an artist, not just the top charts: a search tool, by genre, by tags, by similar artists, from the list of artists followed by their friends, from the suggestions box... All new artists and albums are shown on their homepages also.
I'm sincerely trying to do something. The site will work better with more artists and more listeners and I have a lot of ideas for the future. By now the site have to grow and I have posted on some forums and I'm sending some emails to artists (with a public email) that could be interested in promoting their music but far away to be spam. I like to do things little by little. I like to receive comments and suggestions from artists. And I'm trying to do my best.
So, thanks for your feedback.
Ramon
