Hi Guitar slingers
I've been listening/playing a lot of Blues lately, and had forgotten how much I loved it. So I was wondering if anyone would like to get in on a Jam? I can post a backing track and split it up into timed sections so everyone knows where to start and end, example below:
1) 0:00-0:50 2) 0:50-1:35 3) 1:35-2:10 4) 2:10-End
It's really straight forward the times are just there to keep a ruff track on where the next player should start.
Anyway let me know if anyone is interested and I'll post the track tonight. You can use either an electric or an acoustic in this jam.
Rgds Andy

Nice one guys. I'll post the track when I get home from work. Should be fun we should keep it in the guitar section until it's finished and then post it over on the MP3 page as a complete JPF guitar player tune.

Ok Blues Boys time to play Here's the track http://www.box.net/shared/ryb76sau8dIt's a slow blues in C major. The slots that are up for grabs are below, it may look confusing but it makes sense when you hear the track. I've booked the second slot so when whoever goes first has done there part and posted the link to the track with them playing on it I can then download it and do my solo. Once I've done mine I will post a link to the track so that the guy in third can record his part. so on and so on...until we have a complete track with 6 different guitarists playing. Hope this makes sense to ya if not just ask. I've done loads of these guitar jams over the years and even done a few video versions that I posted on youtube here's the link if anyone's interested: Global jam 1) 0:00 - 1:15 Empty 2) 1:15 - 2:08 Andy3) 2:08 - 3:00 Empty 4) 3:00 - 3:50 Empty 5) 3:50 - 4:48 Empty 6) 4:48 - End Empty So who's going to take the first slot? and feel free to put your names down for any slots just wait until the guy before you has posted there track before recording your solo.

Nice job there coalminer!
I guess I'll take slot # 5 so I don't have to go after Colin! (watch Eric Clapton grab slot #4 -- ha, ha).
Andy, I was planning on sending you the click, silence and then my part starting at 3:50. Will that work for you?

Andy: there is a "bum" note in the backing track @ 3:46. Might want to punch that one out.

Cool take Mr Miner. You got the da blues man!
I'll get my version done and up for download soon. Kevin is the bum note your doing or the track? The backing should be spot on.
1) 0:00 - 1:15 Coalminer (played) 2) 1:15 - 2:08 Andy 3) 2:08 - 3:00 Colin 4) 3:00 - 3:50 <-----> 5) 3:50 - 4:48 Kevin 6) 4:48 - End <----->
Where's Eric?

Some people's "bum" note can other people's "jazz". If you don't hear it on the standalone backing track at 3:46, then don't worry about it.

lol jazz is just blues with mistakes. I'll get my solo posted tomorrow night gmt. My hard drive is full on my away1600 so I need to do a back up and get rid of some music. Sorry for the delay.
Kevin I had a listen to the backing and you absolutely right about that note. I'm sure we won't hear it in the mix.

That is a mighty good tone, Andy. It was all good, but that part from 1:33 - 1:41 stood out for me!
We may have to hunt down a couple of guitar players for slots 4 and 6. I just went through the first 160 posts or so and I didn't see too many. Mark Kaufman, Magne (the songcabinet) Mike Caro (substudio) were the ones that came to mind. Any others?
Kevin

I'll put down for slot 4:
1) 0:00 - 1:15 Coalminer (played) 2) 1:15 - 2:08 Andy (played) 3) 2:08 - 3:00 Colin 4) 3:00 - 3:50 Mike 5) 3:50 - 4:48 Kevin 6) 4:48 - End <----->

Hey, that is a hot little version that Colin laid down!
I am going to be busy in February with RPM, but I think in March I think I am going to finally work my way through that Blues You Can Use Book I thing. It is about time I learned some decent blues techniques.

Okay I see you pre picked a time slot, got it.
My question is do i just take the mp3 and play over it and send back the mix of what i added over the mp3 as an mp3?
Or do you want the guitar file by itself?
It would be harder to place them in the right spot that way, but sonically what happens to the original track as we keep passing it around? lol
Sorry for adding any confusion. already In transfering the song so far on to my machine I'm getting cliches and crackles. I dont record on the computer so have to send it analog style, to my machine.

I was actually thinking about doing slide -- glad I didn't (ha, ha). Nice take, Mike (Hey did remove some noise from my part of the track -- if so, thanks!) There is some popping and clicking starting to develop -- it is inevitable when you forward pass these files like this. Here is the version with Mike and me -- we now just need the grand finale! FTP: ftp://www.jkt9000.com/cville_ramblings/JPF_Blues_Jam_need_slot6.mp3or HTTP: http://www.jkt9000.com/html/JPF_Blues_Jam_need_slot6.mp3Yowzer, it at 10.5 Mb@ 256kps. Kevin
