The goal of our "Song Challenges" is to write songs/lyrics on demand within set parameters. We don't critique each other's songs in this thread (but you can say you like someone's song if you want to.) Please post your original works. If you have already written a song/lyric that fits within the parameters, please feel free to post it.
It's the New Year, so let's have a song that deals with New Year's Resolutions. It doesn't have to actually have the phrase "New Year" or "Resolution" in it but the lyrics should revolve around that that central theme of wanting, wishing or deciding to make some changes in one's life. It's up to you what those changes might be. The song could also be about past changes - it's up to you.
Have fun!

I think this one fits , although it is a few months old now. I will try for a brand new one too! The lyrics are on the Bandcamp page. [size:14pt][color:#993300]Time for Change Time For Change Copyright 2010 Colin Ward V1 I'm out of time and I don't know why, I feel you drifting out of my life, You're getting lost in your other world, While I'm left sitting on the side Chorus Time for change It's time for a change Time for change Time for me to rearrange, My life V2 The days you spend earning your coin Keep you too far away from home, I miss the sun shining on your blond hair, You seem like someone I used to know Chorus Time for change It's time for a change Time for change Time for me to rearrange, My life Bridge You need to find another gig There's plenty here for you to do Or would you rather be away from me, And cut the ties, admit that we are through Chorus Time for change It's time for a change Time for change Time for me to rearrange, My life

This was actually a 50/90 "skirmish" lyric written in August. The challenge was to write something within 60 minutes, and having the title hook "divine decline". I ended up with a kind of rock-gospel effort. I think the "moral" of the story might fit the context of the "Resolutions" challenge. (And yes, I did get teased because of my name. ) Divine, Decline(v1) Lots of ways to lead a life Theres a high road and a low Some folks take a fast track Others take things slow But in the end we all decide The way our souls will go Chorus Brothers, lets get into shape Back to basic morals Stop the madness in the world The pettiness, the quarrels We need to make some choices And were running out of time So a handy rule to live by is If its not divine, decline (v2) Let's choose friends that lift us up Doing different is unwise Smile at a lonely stranger See the trust in a babys eyes Offer to help someone in need Be the angel in disguise Chorus Sisters, lets get into shape Back to basic morals Stop the madness in the world The pettiness, the quarrels We need to make some choices And were running out of time So a handy rule to live by is If its not divine, decline Bridge Enough room for everyone But attitudes need to change Having a heaven here on earth Isnt out of our range A little give, a little take A little love exchange Chorus People, lets get into shape Back to basic morals Stop the madness in the world The pettiness, the quarrels We need to make some choices And were running out of time So a handy rule to live by is If its not divine, decline 2010 Donna Devine
