I've been encouraged to post a link to my SoundClick page, in hopes that someone might find my lyrics and tunes worthy of a collaboration. Thanks.

Rick,

I think what you should do Is post your songs one at a time and allow them to be listened to at that pace.

If I were you, I would change this post (by using edit) and pick one song and post a link to just that song and post the lyrics as well.

I would suggest starting with "Songs Sung In The Wind".

I also post my lyrics sung acapella, so visit mine if you want to see how I'm doing it, I have a song on the board called "A Small Place In My Heart"

I like this song, needs to be sung with more confidence.

Tammy

I apologize. I didn't think of that. I'll work on that this evening. Thank you.

This lyric was written for my son, who is now in 5th grade. He used to be my shadow, whenever I wasn't at work and he wasn't at school.

http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=9635110

Five O'clock Shadow
-------------------
[VERSE 1]
The alarm goes off, at 6 a.m.;
Gotta get up and on my feet again,
Grab a quick shower, and shave my raggedy face.
Daddy's boy's still in his bed;
Time to wake up that sleepy-head.
Kindergarten's waiting, we don't wanna be late.
Find his clothes and help him dress.
Then he's on my heels with every step.

[CHORUS]
Then we're out the door and on the road,
Listening to country radio,
And he's singing his favorite tunes,
Cause he hears me singing them too.
Drop him off, with a wink and a grin,
Til quitting time rolls round again.
Then, no matter what we do, and no matter where we go,
He's my five o'clock shadow.

[VERSE 2]
Pick him up at the end of the day;
With a great big hug, we're on our way.
He helps me drive, from the shotgun seat again.
Down the road, it's dinner for two,
Taco Bell and a Mountain Dew.
Talking bout how school's been treating him.
Bath and bed when we get back in,
and when the morning comes, do it all again.

[Repeat]
He's my five o'clock shadow.

Hi Rick, great to meet you!

I'm sure things will come together for you soon!! We're all pretty good at collaborating - sometimes trading off works, and sometimes folks are for hire for not too much.

I am not a country artist so I can't offer anything production-wise in that department for you.

I do like your song, it's very cool and I love the sentiment and positive mesage of family. The melody is nice and easy on the ears.

You have a nice voice, it's very pleasant.
Is that a fan or the tape recorder I hear in the background? smile
Even so it was easy to listen to all the way through.

As a Mom I just have two tiny thoughts that stood out to me, very small but -- here goes -- out here on the West Coast and anywhere there are airbags in the passenger seat, a 5-year old (Kindergarten) is *not* allowed to ride shotgun. In CA I could seriously get a ticket I think. In CA, booster seats are required with back seat placement to age 6 at least, and in WA state where I just moved from, it's age EIGHT.

Even without an airbag in the front seat, and even with a booster etc., it's generally known this is not the safest place to put a small child in case of an accident.

So... not to be overly picky... but I think for "marketability's" sake, and to prevent letters from any moms or dads out there (even presuming the entire song is fiction, not everyone will take it as such) ... it's better to protect yourself and put him in the back seat in your song. smile

Same goes for Taco Bell, it's really cute and fits nice, but you'll have parents all over ya wondering if that's EVERY night's dinner and "why are you feeding that little kid all that caffeine??"

laugh

To be clear, *I* am not making that call at all and what you do or don't do is purely your own family's business!!

...I'm just saying I know that if it was on radio *today* this is what you may be hearing back, and it's easy to work around at this stage. Easier to adjust now than after it's on radio.

And - that said, I *do* think it's a wonderful song and paints a really fun picture of father/son love. This is something we need to see more of and I'm happy I got to hear it.

Thanks for sharing and I hope my points are taken in the light and easygoing manner it's my intent to carry over to you.

smile

Linda

Do you want music for this one in particular? Because I heard it...

I have music for all of my songs and they vary from rock to country to folk and everywhere in between. (except rap)

Looking to collaborate on any of the songs I've started. I'm terrible at judging my lyrics, though, so really can't tell if any are good or not.

Clever play on words with the five o'clock shadow theme.

Steve, thanks for the comment. I love a good hook. With that said, it may be pretty obvious that I don't know what the heck I'm doing. At least it's fun, I get to write, I get to share, and I have something to blame for my insomnia. Now if I could just find something to blame for my family. smile
