"What's the deal with Fridays?'
V1 Friday morn'and my rooster outside is going crazy tryin' to get me to rise, so I stumble out of bed heading for my coffee tin but my coffee tin was empty... I ain't got no coffee in (oh maaaaan!!))
V2 So a cup of tea later and a slice of toast to go, I'm heading for my pickup as I'm stepping out the door, I'm tryin' to start the engine but the engine doesn't try, the gas tank must be empty must have let the tank run dry (ah come on!)
Chorus Whats the deal with Fridays? does it have to be this way? Why do I get my weeks bad luck all happening on one day. Monday through to thursday I know the weekend's coming my way, But if there's anything weird to reduce me to tears then Friday is the day...
V3 So I lock my truck, turn around, turn back to my home just in time to see my dog, diggin' up my lawn, How the hell's he gotten out, I locked the door for sure, but the front door is swingin' in the breeze guess I didn't lock the door...
chorus
Bridge Well, I kick the truck, grab the dog, make my way inside, got undressed, climbed in bed, laid back and closed my eyes, I've figured out a way to deal with fridays from now on... I'll stay in bed on Fridays and not get up until Fridays gone!!!
chorus x 2

Hey Gary, I think this is a cool idea for a song I think I'd change Friday to Monday though, cause everyone hates Monday. Nice write though!! Dottie

HIDee & "Welcome Aboard" New Guy Gary!
Fun Storyline, New Amigo!
2 things won't translate-well to a US Audience; I got no idea what a "Cockrell" is (Cocker-Spaniel Pooch?).. Also, dunno if many a Yank uses "Diesel" in his pickup truck..
I did enjoy The Read, nevertheless, AND certainly envy The Singer's Solution to the Problem at hand, too!
Good Luck with a Good'n'..hope to see many more! Best Wishes & a Big "Welcome to JPF" Guy-Hug, Stan

LOL....thanks Stan, I had this discussion with Dottie!!!
A cockrel is a male hen (or cock), the guy that keeps'em laying and goes cock-a-doodle-dooooo every sun up!! What do you guys call them?
I will try to substitute Diesel for something else!!
regards.. Gary

Hi Gary
That's brilliant! I love lyrics that don't take themselves too seriously. I have a tendency alot of the time, to be a bit heavy handed with the storylines I write. Something I always have to be conscious of. So this is a great read and great fun.
I take Dottie's point about 'Monday' but I also think as it's a fun lyric putting Friday in - where you'd think 'Monday' should be is a stroke of genius - different and original!
So great work Gary love it.
ColmT
Oh! I think Americans use 'gas' or 'gasoline'

Thanks Colm......I would have imagined a dubliner wouldn't have any trouble writing light hearted lines!!! Gary (I love Dublin, best Guinness in the world)

Hi Gary Nice little lyric here. I think some of the phrasing can be tightened but that would be an easy fix with music. I like the fact that you chose ‘Friday’ rather than the obvious, there is also some logic there – we all run out of stuff at the end of the week! There is a slight flaw in your storyline. In V3 you lock the truck and walk back home. Then in the bridge you kick the truck and grab the dog (did the truck follow you home? ) I would change the opening line to Friday morning and the cockerel outside. There are some places where repeat words/phrases are not necessary. E.g. coffee tin, engine and diesel – I’d be tempted to fix that. Fun write Cheers Nige

Hi I just read the other comments - you could try rooster instead of cockerel. Nige

Hi Gary,
Yes! That makes sense to Americans now! I do like the rest of the changes as well.
