You've got to know your limitations. I don't know what your limitations are. I found out what mine were when I was twelve. I found out that there weren't too many limitations, if I did it my way. -Johnny Cash It's only music. -niteshift Mike Dunbar Music

Well If I was to witness a need for CPR out of the hospital setting, I see where this would certainly be more benefitical than the previous way, but of course in the hospital where staff is qualified to handle the situation we do it differently...
But for someone to start CPR as soon as possible, I can see this working...and please as Mike has said, everyone really needs to learn this...it may be your own family, loved ones, that you save...this video is very good and shows the effects and reasons for CPR and explains the steps and actions in detail....I'm passing this along to the hospital where I work and to ones that I know that teach CPR...

I added it to my interests and will try to edit it into my signature as well. If you have room I suggest others give it a try as well. Thanks for posting this Mike!

G'Mornin' Bro Mike, & Thanks, Amigo!
My wife knows CPR, but I never learned-how. THIS is a VERY Easy Way to remember..(& suddenly, The Bee-Gees' "Stayin' Alive" has a New Luster to it...heh! THAT I'll remember!)
Found that "You lose 10% Survival Rate for every minute you delay helping" also very interesting. (Obviously, ya wanna employ this method ASAP..making sure 9-1-1's been called.)
Sure simplifies that ol' Back-Pressure-Arm-Lift stuff I learned back in the Boy Scouts!
Great Sharing, Amigo...& I'm sure Lives-WILL-Be-Saved the more this gets viewed! (AND..it's SO Simple..even I can remember How!)
Many Thanks & Major-League Guy-Hugs, Stan

As an Ex Paramedic in the Eighties I saw the CPR technic change many times. It used to be complicated. You had a lot to do and it was necessary to take a course to learn to do it "right". This new technic, if it works and I have no reason to believe it won't, sounds so much better and simpler. Even back in those days I questioned the effectiveness of what we were doing. I always thought there was a better way.
The main point of CPR is it has to be started as soon as possible. Under normal circumstances the brain cannot survive much more than about three minutes without a blood supply. You can last longer if you simply quit breathing because the heart is still circulating oxygenated blood but once the pump stops three minutes is about it. 15 or 20 seconds you are unconscious and three minutes brain cells start dieing.
It should be required teaching in High school. Even a Pre teen can do it.
As a Paramedic we rarely saved anyone who arrested before we were called. If we weren't there within three minutes of them hitting the floor there wasn't much chance. But I did save a few.
