{John L. Schick's "Are We An End In Ourselves" thread at the General Message Forum this AM got me to thinking "AHEAD"..on the Fate of Our Species..&..(gulp!)..I didn't see Real GOOD Things ahead...exactly. (Being the Sarcastic Ol' Fart I truly AM...)
So..let me put it into a SONG Format, WITH the Usual Bitta HUMOR to help it slide-down better...&..we can all LAUGH for at least a couple hundred years...}
Hey, It's Two-Thousand-Two-Hundred-Three I Been Workin' My A$$-Off in This Factory Crankin'-Out Hard-drives..& Micro-chips Watchin' My Buddies All Get Their Pink Slips...
So, When My Cellphone Went-Off In My Arm 'Held It to My Ear..& Tried to Stay Calm "Please Come To The Office & Get Your Last Pay" DAMN, A ROBOT JUST FIRED ME..TODAY!
(CHORUS) I Been Workin' My Butt-Off These 3-Hour-Days Commutin' For HOURS On Old Bullet Trains Draggin' My Feet Through This Nuclear Waste & A ROBOT JUST FIRED ME TODAY!!!
So I Join The Ranks of The Earth's UNEMPLOYED Hard to Find Work UNLESS You're An ANDROID: They Can Work-LONGER and They're TWICE-as-SMART (& They DON'T Pollute Clean Rooms With Burpin' & Farts)
So Me & The Kids Can All Move-Off to Mars Where Humans Can Live, Tho The Living IS Hard Earth Is SO COSTLY, & INSTEAD of A RAISE.. A ROBOT JUST FIRED ME..TODAY!
(CHORUS) HE SITS IN HIS OFFICE & ISSUES COMMANDS His BRAIN is By-INTEL, His Housing, From RAND He USED To LAUNCH MISSILES, NOW He RUNS THE PLACE And That ROBOT JUST FIRED ME TODAY...
(TAG) IF He Only HAD ONE, I'd SPIT IN HIS FACE 'Cuz THAT ROBOT JUST FIRED ME..TODAY!

Funny song you got here, Stan, and (as usual) very clever. I could picture the Intel-Rand robot issuing "commands." Think you could go the full magilla with this and have bleeps and blips and sounds of cyborgs maneuvering around in a technocracy gone horribly wrong.
Love the line "IF He Only HAD ONE, I'd SPIT IN HIS FACE"
Gives all us working stiffs a grin. Fun stuff, man! Scott

Good Aftynoon,' Bro Scott!
It's always fun to Speculate "What's The Future Gonna Be LIKE..."
As with today, I dunno that it's GONNA Be So "Likeable"...
The Rich'll get Robots...the Workin' Class'll get the Pink Slips...You Watch. When the Industrialists run outta Chinese, they'll Rent Robots. Won't be TOO-long now, is My Guess.
And THEN..when "Management" asks for More-Perks...The Wealthy Owners'll replace this Bloated "Management" Class with Robots TOO.
Remember..ya heard it HERE...heh-heh!
Thanks for Your Kind Visit & Backpats! Best Wishes & a Big Guy-Hug, Stan

HiYa Mz Condy!
THis ain't as Romantic as the John Henry "Steeldrivin' Man" Song...but I see that Evil Metal Glint somewhere along The Horizon.
We have met The Enemy, & we're gonna produce him/it..in Record Numbers.
These ARE "The Good Old Days"...you watch!
I'm pretty glad I only got the Next 2 Decades to Worry About...(Bein'-"Old" has its Advantages!) ;-)>
Thanks for Your Very Kind Visite & Words, Young LadyChum! Best Wishes & Big Hugs, Stan

HiDee TexasBro!~
Wife called for "Supper!" & then I dozed-off in fronta the TV..sorry for The Delay, Amigo!
I hit Wikipedia to research Androids...& we're closer to this lyric becoming Reality than I thought...the Japanese have already got a GOOD-Looking One (DER1 is shown, Ca 2001..& She's already obsolete..the 2002 DER2's more-svelte, it said!) "165 CM Tall, 47 Moveable Parts, changes expression, moves hands & feet & twists its body." Uses pneumatics.."Air Servosystem"..so varying the air pressures results in "very fluid movement & very little noise."
Not to be outdone, the Koreans have a 60-jointed "EveR1" with REALLY-Lifelike sorta-Vinyl skin, who's not only even-Foxier (JMO), she has the ability to SING and DANCE, Folks! "Weighs 50 KG, matching the average figure of Korean Women in their 20's. Vocabulary of 400 words..speech recognition..& emotions"...
"The South Korean Ministry of Information plans to put a robot in every household by 2020." "Several Robot Cities are planned for the country, the first in 2009 at a cost of 500 Billion Won, of which 50 Billion is direct Gov't Investment"...
The US doesn't seem to be making Great-Looking Androids YET..but we've got the Einstean Android, a joint effort by Hanson Robotics + KAIST..where one Co. combined their Facial Tech. with the other supplying the Body. The U of Texas at Arlington "also developed an Android Portrait of Sci Fi Author Philip K. Dick ("Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep"'s Author) "with full conversational capabilities that incorporated thousands of pages of the author's work." "In 2005, the PKD Android won 1st place in Artificial Intelligence Award from the AAAI"...
So..they're ALREADY making Pretty Good Copies of Babes, Singers, Authors and Geniuses...(& I seem to remember Disney's already done Presidents)... So...get-ready for "Bosses"...in the near-future..(A Swiss Watchmaker, Pierre Jacquet-Droz, in 1768-1774 had WAY-prior made Automatons titled "The Writer".."The Artist".."The Musician"..& they're still workin' away in a Museum in Le Locle, Switz...just down the hill from my wife's home town.) Just read there's another Museum in Grenoble where "Vaucanson's Duck" (1739) has been re-created.."Over 1000 moving parts"--famous for moving along a King's Banquet Table, mooching & then eating a Handout...then gobbling it down it's throat..before either laying an egg...or leaving a little "Present" behind...& moving-on.
First US Patent for a Mechanical Man is approx 1863..for miniature Toy Robots. Earliest Date for Thinking about MAKING mechanical people: 1664, when Descartes published "Treatise on Man."
As Barry Manilow once sang.."Looks Like We Made It". (Gulp!)
Love, fortunately, still remains Analogue, though I've heard rumors the Japanese HAVE already made Female Androids that are Designed to Make a Man REAL Happy. (& that's as Pathetic as it is Scary, JMO, again!)
Thanks for Your Kind Visit & Words, Amigo. Best Wishes & a Big Guy-Hug, Longwinded Stan

Happy 1AM, Amigo!
Hey, you & I oughta go into the T-Shirt Biz...I can see it all now:
"DON'T TRUST THE TIN MAN!"
Should make us our first million...heh!
We CAN laugh about it now...but..I remember when I was working a Temp Job at GTE's Engineering Drafting Dept...where about 20 of us Humans were employed Inking-In..& electric Erasering-Out..Mylar Sheets with Cable Runway Systems all graphed-out on sheet-after-sheet..in 1973.
We used to joke "No Computer'd ever STOOP to doing our Drafting Jobs"...
And..about 5 years later, Computers took-away most ALL of those jobs..permanently.
Many Thanks for Your Kind Visit & Words, Amigo...& so-far no computer's taken-over the T-Shirt Business....that I know of...anyways!
Best Wishes & a Big Guy-Hug, Stan

HiDee NeighborGuy!
Hey, Thanks for those Mighty Kind Words, Amigo!
Anybody ever tellya ya resemble a young Frank Lloyd Wright? (I actually SAW the guy..so I know!)
This Hook is somewhat-lifted from that (Think it's a William Randolph Hearst line) "When a Man Bites a Dog, It's News".
Thanks Again for Your Very Kind Visit & Words, Amigo! Best Wishes & a Big Guy-Hug, Stan

Que Passa, Amigo-Bro!
Yeah, I enjoy Laughter, especially at Really Tough Topics. (It's lots Easier to Sleep when ya can Laugh at The Boogyman...)
A saner man than me would probably go crazy!
Thanks for Your Kind Visit, New Amigo! I enjoyed your posting on that new Cell-Creation. (I'll eventually do a song on Cyborgs, too...they're probably even More of a Threat to Our Species, Long-Term. Remember that Annie Get Your Gun Song "Anything You Can Do..I Can Do Better"?) ;-)>
CONGRATS at your recent arrival as "Serious Poster"...DO keep up the Good Work!
Best Wishes & a Big Guy-Hug, Stan
