Dear JPFers, I have been researching internet promotion and am now ready to start using some of the things I have learned. One of them is a 15-second pitch, also known as an elevator pitch. Something you can say about yourself that takes little time, but communicates effectively who you are. More at http://www.15secondpitch.comI need help refining mine: My name is Steve Dockendorf and I write positive songs with unforgettable melodies that you'll want to hear again. My natural optimism shows in all my music. I would love your feedback on what you like or don't like about it. If you have heard my music, perhaps you have some ideas for fine tuning of this pitch to make it more accurately descriptive. I'd particularly appreciate any ideas on who you think I sound like - both voice and music style(s).

mmmmm.... Hi Steve,
I tried this a while back. It only took 5 seconds for me to read your pitch. I might substitute "upbeat" for positive in sentence 1.
Sentence 2 is not additive to promoting your music IMHO. I am glad you are optimistic but it would not get me to listen to your music.
"Angelina" makes me think of Marty Robbins meeting John Denver.

Great ideas, Colin. I was thinking of Marty Robbins when I wrote Angelina. I wish there was someone still living that I sound like.
I'll keep your ideas in mind as I continue working on it.
Anybody else like to chime in?

"If someone is truly a jerk, or truly is not deserving of any positive reply from you, polite indifference is the best response you can give. Do not insult. Do not slam. Do not follow the urge to be nasty. Simply be politely indifferent." –Brian Austin Whitney
