Man, looking at the dates for the latest posts for this chapter is just plain sad... Can anyone tell me what it takes to be a chapter head? If it involves a lot of computer work I can't do it (I'm on a library one right now). I live in Hampton, Va., and am a total rookie when it comes to the business aspect of music. But I've been playing for 7 years (and that's what's important, right?)

I'm a complete rookie at this too...feel a bit out of place but looking for someone to collaborate with. I live in Appomattox, VA. I use to live in Buckroe Beach and still have a best friend I go visit. I write lyrics but don't play or sing. I've posted some of my work but am not getting much feedback. I hope to become more comfortable as I get use to this site. I'm use to just posting on facebook. Welcome!

Tyler, what it takes to become a chapter head in any city is to first get 10 or more dedicated musicians. Then go to Brian Austin Whitney and get his approval for starting a chapter. The chapter head is responsible for finding a place to hold the monthly meeting/jam sessions, getting the word out to everyone, being active on the chapter forum here, and recruiting new members. No money should ever change hands. Hopefully, Brian will come in here and expand on what all being a chapter head involves.

I know this thread is old. But I'm a musician in Virginia Beach and I just started a meetup group with meetup.com. It's http://www.meetup.com/Hampton-Roads-Songwriters-and-Composers/I participated in JPF a few years ago when I lived in SoCal and was interested in starting a chapter. My meetup has 14 members so far. I am interested in becoming chapter head for this area. Could someone please let me know what I have to do.

JanaeJean,
Send a personal message (click on MyStuff at the top to send a message) to Brian Austin Whitney and tell him about your chapter plans. He is the head honcho and will steer you right! Welcome.
