What a moment!
But it brings up a depressing question. If Ringo is more than 23 years older than me, why don't I look that young?

Ringo will be in St. Augustine on July 17. Wish I got tickets. I did see Eric Burdon a few years ago when he came here.

Man, Thanks for the link. That was great. Hard to believe Ringo and John would both be 70 this year. John in October.

What a way to start the day! Thanks for sharing this. How awesome! My husband played this song for me at my surprise 40th birthday party. Of course, he played it on the stereo, and none of the Beatles or anyone famous was there, but other than that it was a great, fun surprise too! Ricki

I had always heard that he was not such a great drummer. But one night I saw him on a late night talk show. He played a few things, explaining the techniques and musical issues. Wow,,,,, I was very impressed. Since then, I looked into it a little more, and although the masses are not impressed with him, musicians are very impressed.

Tom Hey Tom. Listen to any of the mid to later Beatles recordings and let someone tell you he wasn't a great drummer. He was very unique. Listen to the drums on A Day In the life among many others and his fills are different from anyone else and very inventive. It sounds like thunder rolling across the soundscape. I saw the same show you did apparently and one of the reasons he was different was he is left handed so he does everything backwards. Now someone will probably follow this with the BS that he didn't even play on Beatle's records. Well no one else ever sounded like him style wise. These same folks probably think the American groups of the 60s did play on their own records which is a falsehood. Seasoned Jazz and big band studio musicians did and that is the truth according to Bassist Carol Kaye, guitarist and friend of mine, Billy Strange, Drummers Hal Blaine and Earl Palmer among others who were there in the LA studios for the sessions. Musicians Union 67 of LA also bears this out. Sorry for chasing that rabbit down the trail. Point is, all the other Beatles and George Martin think Ringo was an exceptional drummer. I once saw Phil Collins commenting on Ringo's drumming and he said that if you took today's best drummers and asked them to play the fills Ringo played, they wouldn't know even how to begin. Stevie

Max Weinberg(E Street Band)is also on record as saying how difficult it was to try to copy Ringo when he was going back to basics for the "Born in the USA" album....But, I mean, whatever, ya know? He's Ringo. Always will be. Now excuse me while I go watch this again.

"Sometimes reaching a goal earlier than planned is a great achievement. It shows you have worked hard, pushed ahead and made it happen. However, sometimes reaching a goal far past your original deadline, long after you wanted to complete it, and after the accolades you might once have gotten for the achievement are over, it is an even greater achievement. This shows you never gave up, due to adversity, deficit, criticism and those little life detours that end many dreams and goals. In many ways, this is a reason for even more pride!" -Brian Austin Whitney
