Hey all. If any of you have checked out my songwriting posts I have a tendency for sad country songs. I have a hard time finding an up tempo song so I'm asking you all to help me out. I am looking for a song ready for demo that I can use. I need somethin like a Miranda Lambert or Carrie Underwood feel to it. It doesn't have to be happy just a good uptempo. I am looking to head to the studio in late feb or early march but am hoping one of you fellow JPFers can help me out. Obviously it needs to be in the country genre. Thanks guys!!!!!!! KUDOS!!!!!!

April, all my stuff is up for grabs--and a lot of it works for either a guy voice or a girl voice. (The recordings obviously were done by a guy, because I are one.) And most are uptempo, if not particularly upbeat. A few that come to mind, depending on what you want the album to sound like, are: "When I Jump Off the Cliff I'll Think of You": www.soundclick.com/share?songid=6417842"Hank's Song": www.soundclick.com/share?songid=2794921"Prehistoric Roadkill": www.soundclick.com/share?songid=5218071"Dead Fishes": www.soundclick.com/share?songid=6819442"Cliff" and "Fishes" are extremely uptempo, and not at all upbeat (of course). If you see/hear anything else you'd be interested in, hey, go for it. For "upbeat," you might want to look at some of the co-written material. Two that jumped out at me were: "Don't Remind Me You're on My Mind" (Stan Good): www.soundclick.com/share?songid=8294959"Distraction" (Diane Ewing): www.soundclick.com/share?songid=4999695Both Stan and Diane are on Facebook if you don't see 'em here. You'd want their okay, too. That help? Lots of luck. Joe

HiDee Mz April, & Thanks for askin' us at JPF!
I'll certainly "OK" the song Joe & I Co-ed on...
I've got a Sweet, Simple one..(On my First CD at CDBaby.com, "Don't You Ever Grow Old")..titled "Love In The Mountains". (I'd have to mail ya the CD..if ya liked the 20-second Sample that's all they have there of it. Need a snail addy if-so/I don't know how to make MP3's or send 'em.)
And..got a FINE one, "You Saved Me", co-written with Mark Schuessler..at his Soundclick.com site..that's Perky & on the Pop Side/Downright BEAUTIFUL Song. His demo's piano-driven, BUT would translate WELL to a Country Guitar sound. Needs just ONE word changed to make it a Gals' Song..change the Bridge Line "No MAN is ever strong-enough..alone" to "No ONE is ever strong enough..." & there ya go. This ones a HIT for whoever's singing it/WAS held for a Branson Gal's CD..(Until she began a writing storm & now it's Mostly-Her-Songs that got cut.)
Thanks for considering Any & All, & Good Luck with Your Project! Best Wishes & Big Hugs, Stan
PS: You Supply Me a Hook...I'll custom write ya a Song. Best Wishes Again, Stan

April,
Just sent you a PM but I will say this here for the benefit of others. Sometimes if you let it be known what kind of subject matter you might be interested in, what "tone" you are trying to to do, or if their are any subjects you want to stay away from, it might help people narrow your search. For writers such as myself that write a lot of songs, it helps to know a little about your personality to find out if we have anything that could match that aspect of you. If you were a younger artist it wouldn't make sense to talk about "your child walking down the aisle" or if you were trying to go for a more "sassy" type song, it wouldn't make any sense to send an older feeling love song, or something about "our long lives together. At the same point, if you were a little more conservative in your approach, some of the things that Miranda or Carrie might do, might not work for you. So if you can provide a little details about what you might like to say, maybe someone would have just the fit. Or someone might write something for you.
Which is actually a pretty good excercise for all you writers out there. If you listen to what she has already done, then judge the type voice, the subject matter, and you might find yourself writing for a target, possibly something she might want to write on and help mold herself. Just another way of writing with the artist, we always talk about. From the writer's perspective, it helps get your outside yourself writing for something else. If you did it, then you might have another song even if it didn't work for April.

Hi April, I may have some songs you will like. Can you give a bit more information on where you are in your Music Career? Are you doing an Album? Do you have a Record Label or are you doing it yourself. Are you playing someplace on a regular basis. Do you want to license songs for commerical release. Thanks.

Thanks Marc I am looking for something snappy and personality driven like a Cowboy Casanova or Gunpowder and Lead type of song. I am a redhead so I bring a fiery side to the table and have a strong vocal range. Ray to answer your questions what I am looking for right now is a demo that I will eventually be able to sell down the road for when I play out. I have recently started playing out but only in my small town right now. I hope with this demo I may be able to get more Nashville based. Thanks for all who have responded if anyone wants to send me something in mp3 you can send it to nashvilleapril@yahoo.com

Howdy April, Gus here. How exciting your plans sound. You know I've critiqued several of your lyrics over the months, like "I'm from Bowling Green" Which I remember as good, just going from memory. Janice Hopkins and & I have some good sassy female lyrics, or are you looking for musicated tunes to recut with your vocals?? PLease get back with me on what your preferences are OK?...Gus

Lyrics by Harris Tobias Charlottesville, Va monthclub@gmail.com
NAGGING CHICKEN BLUES
Woke up this morning found a chicken in my bed I don’t believe nothin’ that that chicken said He said you didn’t love me That he saw you kissing Fred I wish I didn’t have any chickens in my head
Drove to work on Monday found a chicken in my car Chicken tried to tell me just how bad you are I tried not to listen Played the radio instead I really wish I didn’t have any chickens in my head
A chicken tried to tell me that you’re no good for me That chicken said you’re cheatin’ and that’s no way to be Now love has got me mixed up like a chicken fricassee A chick chick, chick chick chicken fricassee
Went to work on Tuesday found a chicken in my chair Tried to call my honey, chicken said you weren’t there Sure enough you didn’t answer Chicken said you didn’t care I can’t seem to lose that nagging chicken anywhere
A chicken tried to tell me, it whispered in my ear That you were unfaithful he made it very clear That one day I would have to face you and accuse I wish i didn’t suffer from these nagging chicken blues
That chicken says you're cheatin' and that's no way to be Now love has got me mixed up like a chicken fricassee Like a chick chick chick chick chicken fricassee.

April, Please check my songs page on my website. www.writethismusic.com/songs.htmThere's a sample of a very sad song on there called "Just Come Out and Say It" that gets a lot of great feedback. It may be what you're looking for. If you'd like the full version shoot me an email and I'll send you an mp3. My email address is on the top right on my home page. The tracks are available if you like the sound. Thanks Bill Renfrew Write THIS Music, BMI Nashville, TN www.writethismusic.com

Check these out?
VETERAN OF DOMESTIC WARS
Say hello to the Veteran of Domestic Wars We're everywhere you look these days Tryin' to live with mental and physical scars Small wonder our eyes look so glazed
We've been in and out of hospitals and jails For things we shouldn't have done Frustrated by other people's small details Kind of makes it hard to have any fun
I want a campaign ribbon, or a marble hall A day set aside just for me 'Cause I've been there, done and seen it all From now on, I'll always be A Veteran of Domestic Wars
Divorces and trials, we've all been there Ain't no one likes goin' to court Wishin' the damn system would just be fair It's all there in the latest report
So, take it easy with us, we're sore and tired Seen too much in all these years If you look in our eyes, and we're all wired Must have been too many beers
Yes, we are the Veterans of Domestic Wars Draggin' in to work every day Life was much easier all those years before Still searching for a better way...
Nam vets got their Wall, but we're unknown Just another face on the street Unappreciated, someday we'll just die alone Show some love if you ever meet A Veteran of Domestic Wars ______________________________________________
FLICK OF A WORD
Sittin' here daydreamin' I heard your voice I swim in your warm soft eyes Stuck in this place without hope or choice Funny how time just flies The bed ain't a source of love anymore My mirror can't give sunshine Tracks of dust on my hardwood floor Overcast skies through the blinds
Sanity, comfort, somewhere to belong A storm rages cold, cold rain 'Tis a fine line between right and wrong Will I ever feel the sun again Strange how illusion seems to vanish from sight With a Flick of a Word...
Mornings are a haze of steam and smoke I cling to my habits of late Ain't hard to cry when you're damn near broke I'm still earning my fate Feelin' my years, since I'm livin' here alone The memories are growin' thin One day you're here, and as quickly you're gone What a state you left me in Sanity, comfort, somewhere to belong A storm rages cold, cold rain Searching for peace as I write this song Haunted by a lonesome refrain Strange how illusion seems to vanish from sight With a Flick of a Word I might believe in what she said If I could just get past my throbbin’ head I didn’t see what I was doin’ wrong Guess it didn’t take her quite so long No longer reaching for that which has died Some realities can’t be ignored Leave my sad haven to step outside Through that very same door Sanity, comfort, somewhere to belong A storm rages cold, cold rain Took awhile to realize I'm not so strong Ain't no reason left to complain Strange how illusion seems to vanish from sight With a Flick of a Word
