Ha - you tricked me! I kept waiting for Alan's guitar to show up! I assume you guys worked together on the lyric? I can't remember all the lines from the original but I felt like a bunch of these were new. Seemed better written to the hook too. Nice work guys! Scott

Hey thanks Dan Scott, Al came up with all the ideas for the 2nd verse. I lengthened the verses, made the last two lines a little prelift into the chorus

Thanks, Polly!
This is really more about Louis' writing than mine. I threw out a couple of thoughts about verse 2 and Louis did all the rest. But, I'm glad he liked my ideas! All the best.

Scoot,
Nope, no guitar from me on this one. This is mostly Louis. I offered 5 or 6 lines...Louis sifted through them and found a few he could use, from which he constructed verse 2. I'm just the back-up QB here...Louis took most of the snaps! Thanks for the kind words!

Al and Louis, this is great, when I first saw the lyric I thought there are too many do's, don't, won't but it all worked very well when I listened, enjoyed it very much,

Tony,
Thanks for dropping in and commenting so nicely. Glad you liked after your initial reservations. Louis can say so much with so few words. I've been on the boards here at JPF for almost 9 years and have never once heard any say to Louis..."Nice song, but you need to trim the lyric"!
Louis is the main architect of this one...I just threw a little paint on the wall. If he decides to make a few changes, I'm sure they'll be fine with me.
Thanks again. Merry Christmas.

Wow Boys! Very catchey stuff and well executed. If it speaks that well stripped down, would sound monster on a full production. Think ya's on to sumpin heah! musically, Michael

Thanks so much! Appreciate you listening and your kind words. We're feeling pretty good about it, but always open to good ideas. For demo purposes, we'll probably keep it simple, as is. But, you're right...I think it would be terrific with a full production. Not that I'm biased, or anything!
Thanks again and have a great holiday!

It is always good to have a song that works in such a stripped down version -- and this one does. Interesting take on the topic. Maybe you can get Al to do a "produced" version -- it doesn't need much. It's a good tune.

Glad ya like it! Thanks. If Louis wants a more produced version, I could make that happen. I'll leave it up to him, though. This is his baby...I just supplied the pacifier! Thanks for the listen.

John,
Succinct...that's my middle name! Sure!!!! Louis gets the kudos for the flavor on this one. Like I mentioned earlier, he's the architect on this one...I just splashed a little paint on the walls.
BTW, enjoyed the visit this evening...and the cookies are great! Let's see...you left the house at quarter til eight...by nine o'clock about a third of them were history. They're going to have a very short life span!
Merry Christmas to you and Lori and the girls!

Hi John, thanks for listening, I had to go look up "succinct" lol.. appreciate it. thanks Brandon, listening again is a great compliment. Hey Al, if you want to produce it, send it to T=Bob to sing. I can't load any files from my computer to my recorder since the lightning strike.

Louis,
Don't we love lightning in the hi-tech communications world??!!
I'll contact Bob and. I just replied to your PM before I saw this. If ya don;t mind, send me another PM with the bpm rate. I already know it;s in the key of "F" for your vocal. I can easily transpose it to any key that works for Bob. I'll run it by you, first, though.

A common situation for many couples! Well laid out Louis. A predictable song, but it serves the message real well.

Hi Louis and Al
The changes are good - I think you still could add a bridge if you want, but I really think this song has a lot of potential.
Put it in the basket of possible demo work ; ) jm
Happy Holidays to Both of you and your families !!

Stan,
Thanks so much for dropping in to listen. We appreciate that a lot. We were going for simplicity and in Country music, predictability isn't always a bad thing!

The pleasure is mutual. And thanks for the well wishes for Helen. As you could see, she's in a lot of pain and banged herself up real good with that fall. Sorry ya have to work on Christmas day. Be careful out there on the road. Merry Christmas!

joice,
Thanks for stopping by to listen. It's really nice to know the changes are working for you. Louis gets the credit for all that. I'm just tagging along on this one.
I doubt we'll go with a bridge, per se. I'm in the process of doing a full production on it. In lieu of a bridge, I'm gonna throw in a guitar turn-around that runs a little different from the melody. So, I guess we could call it an instrumental bridge.
Louis and I discussed it a bit and decided to go contemporary with the full production, rather than keeping it traditional Country. It will have a Country-Rock arrangement. Traditional Country is real hard to pitch right now, so we opted for the newer sound. But, it will be real nice to kick back to Louis' original acoustic/vocal and listen to it at times. He's pretty darned good at that, ya know!
Thanks so much. And Merry Christmas to you!

Nice job, guys. My only nit is that the story doesn't evolve. Maybe another verse about her wanting to leave but he doesn't want her to and he could start to give her suggestions a second thought. Wouldn't have to to come to a definite conclusion.

Hi Jean, it's not so much of a story song as it is about the guys attitude towards getting hitched. Kind of a "guy" tune

Howdy Compadres, Gus here. Diggin' this, Glad you're doing the bigger production. The potencial is quite evident, I have a small sugg for L1 of the chorus. "I wonder why she wants". just to delete one "I don't",& it seems smoother........KOS ...LOOKIN' FORWARD TO HEARING THE NEXT VERSION.............GUS

Gus,
Thanks for the look and suggestions. And we appreciate the other comments, too! I'll leave it to Louis to make any more lyrical changes. He's the mastermind of this one. I'm included just because the master didn't mind e tagging along with him. All the best.

Stephen,
I'll echo what my partner said. Bob Pickens (T-Bob) should do a really great job on this. It's gonna be a little more Country Rock than Louis' original. If we could just get Louis to sing Montgomery or Gentry, or Trace Adkins, we'd really have something! But, I kinda like his laid back, smooth style. He's the best at that!
Thanks again! Glad you enjoyed it!
