Just a quick question for you folk. I have a baritone singer lined up for one of my songs. I am not a musician and dont quite know what a country baritone voice sounds like. I wondered if anyone can point me to a baritone country singer/song for referance.
God Bless Roy

Thanks Kevin for:
Randy Travis: Baritone
I think a list would be good.. any ideas of what to add.
What was Johnny Cash?
and what comes above and below Baritone for country singers angle.

Tennessee Ernie Ford probably would be a good example. Baritone is a lower pitch sound. Can't think of too many baritone voices.

A baritone is one step up from Bass and actually dips into the bass register. The next voices up is lead and tenor. Right now it is almost the main country voice.
Current Examples:
Trace Atkins Josh Turner Toby Keith Tracy Lawrence Dierks Bently Chuck Wicks Brad Paisley
Pretty much everyone execept Gary Levox from Rascal Flatts.
MAB
Johnny Cash was a border line bass/baritone singer.

Hey Roy,
The baritone range goes, roughly, from G below middle C to F above middle C.
The traditional ranges for male voice: bass, baritone, second tenor and first tenor. Male country singers sing primarily in the baritone range, as in the examples you have. Male pop and rock singers sing primarily in the tenor range.
Most singers have a personal range that overlaps two of the traditional ranges.
You've got to know your limitations. I don't know what your limitations are. I found out what mine were when I was twelve. I found out that there weren't too many limitations, if I did it my way. -Johnny Cash It's only music. -niteshift Mike Dunbar Music
