Hi, I have not posted in so long, but I have not forgotten about the board. I have been real busy working on Song structure and form with Workshops as well as all Nashville has to offer with networking etc, I would like to share a lyric I wrote some time back with two others, at first Nashville told me it was beautiful ,but too patriotic,!!! who would ever dream though, of the hideous events of 9/11... I have a brother on disablity from the service and friends who have lost loved ones in VietNam,.. if you lost someone you love in a war, this song is a tribute to them. You can hear it by going to mp3.com/irts.. Very soon, hope to have some good news to share about the song with you all. Also, soon I will post the rewrite I did of "Tickles and Freckles" with another writer.I remember alot of ya liked that one!!
" A Soldier's Daughter" (C) 2001 Debbie Iammarino Reb Robinson John Trentes
momma kissed her soldier goodbye said a prayer as he walked away momma she tried so hard not to cry and she promised she write him everyday words to strengthen his soul lighten heavy boots along the way then one day she told him about me baby girl he'd never see
I am a Soldier's daughter that's what I'm most proud to be I am a soldier's daughter his living legacy...
everyday she prayed she would find his letter saying he was coming home she dreamed he'd climb two stairs at a time promise her she'd never be alone then one day in 1970 ..... two solemn soldier's met her at the door with the letter she prayed to never read he died for you.. he died for me...
I am a Soldier's Daughter that's what I'm most proud to be I am a soldier's daughter his living legacy.. Today I kissed his loving name and through my veil of tears I saw soft brown eyes crying back at me from that cold, black shiny wall
Momma saved his letters all for me my father always had so much to say and from these tattered pages I can see the love he sent me, from so far away words that strengthen my soul.. and give me the courage to believe.. wish I could tell him what he means to me all that I am , I owe to his memory..
I am a Soldier's Daughter that's what I'm most proud to be I am a soldier's daughter his living legacy.. I am a soldier's daughter.. that's what I'm most proud to be I am a soldier's daughter his living legacy...

Debdeb, Reads pretty good to me. Nice touching tribute. I`ll go and have a listen. Only thing I`d consider...is that you post the link so it`s easier for people to get to it. Not a big deal though, either way. Off to mp3.com I go. Dano. ![[Linked Image]](http://www.justplainfolks.org/ubb/smile.gif) ------------------ www.angelfire.com/music3/danolyrics

Ria and Dan, Thank you so much for your commnets on the lyric, Dan, I hope you enjoyed the song. It is very special to me and the other two writer's as well. This song has enhanced and humbled my life with every e-mail I have recieved from a vet, and most of all, every daughter and son , whose daddy did not come home from Vietnam, I have learned there are 30,000 of them, adults now, but who lost their father's in Vietnam. .It has touched alot of lives and I am very proud to be one of the writer's on it.Thanks again, debbie

Hello, DebDeb
A very heartfelt work. I think it would benefit somewhat from some lyric tightening, making it a little less "wordy," but you certainly have a piece that many can relate to, especially now.

Sweetsong, Thank you for taking the time to read the lyric, yeah, at glance it can look a bit wordy as Ballads do, but we are getting closer to getting it signed!, so right now... we are 'living' with it. Thanks though for your commnets.. it was written many monthes before September 11... but now, has a sad place in our time. debdeb

Mornin' Deb,
Very nice and touching. Sometimes a song that dredges up the melancholy is just what the doctor ordered.

Dawg, Ahhh, Thanks Dawg.. Yes, it seems to have been that way for me too , I was a young teenager through all of it, but now, soem years later, guess having a little boy of my own, and this world being in such a worrisome state,Vietnam seems almost like right now, just in a another country., but becoming just as big ,But I keep praying not.
She is a very dear song to me,...Thanks again, debdeb

HI Deb!
Your Sweet, Very Touching Song is yet another Reason I've never yet been able to Visit The Wall.
I Mourn for the Daddy you only Know through Mom's Words and His Letters. I deeply regret all the Mistakes that led to His Being There; Many's the Time I've felt some Guilt at My Returning, yet I now How You Feel, having lost my own Dad, in Peacetime, at my Age 4, 2 yrs after he returned from WW2.
You've penned a Great Tribute to a Great Man. BRAVO and KUDOS, Deb...he'd be Real Proud of Ya, I Assure You!

Stan, You made me start to cry.. I owe every minute of my freedom to men like you, God Bless you and your father too! No, this is not a tribute to my father, but if it was ,I WOULD be so proud.. I witnessed a Military funeral with a rifle salute just a couple weeks after I buried my mother,... the emotion of losing a parent is so raw, as you know..the funeral planted the lyrical seed still, . and to lose a father in a war is so heartbreaking,, One woman wrote to me and shared a poem that many children of Nam soldier's share with each other, one line in it just puts this enormous lump in my throat, it is, everybody say's I look just like you who would ever think that you could grow up to look like someone .. you never knew Thanks again Stan, debdeb
