trad country...
Raintree River
Well, I found a table in a corner Poured some whiskey in a glass Then my mind became a stream of mem’ries And my youth went rushin’ past Me and Sara stole off in the twilight Shadows watched us where we lay Down there by the sweet and whisp’ring water Innocence was swept away
By Raintree River, Raintree River And a honeysuckle breeze Where the moon was just a sliver Peekin’ through the leaves And though those days are gone The past keeps rollin’ on Like Raintree River
O my heart had chosen her forever But forever had no chance Sometimes love and passion must surrender To the will of circumstance I recall the final night I saw her Cryin’ at her father’s side But her teardrops couldn’t sway her daddy Like they couldn’t turn the tide
Of Raintree River, Raintree River And a honeysuckle breeze Where the moon was just a sliver Peekin’ through the leaves And though those days are gone The past keeps rollin’ on Like Raintree River
Now and then I walk down by the water And the future I once knew Look at my reflection and I wonder If she ever goes there, too Cos tonight I saw a woman’s shadow With a boy that looked like me Now I’m drowning in a dream of sadness Where the whiskey flows as free
As Raintree River, Raintree River And a honeysuckle breeze Where the moon was just a sliver Peekin’ through the leaves And though those days are gone My past keeps rollin’ on With Raintree River

Another really good write. Reads like a 3 minute novel and tells a good story. I really like the way you seem to always get your verses to lead right into your chorus'. Another beauty in my eyes.
I'm inclined to be musical But I'm not musicaly inclined

"If one man can do it, any man can do it. It is true. But the real question is, if one man did it, are you willing to do what it takes to do it as well?" –Brian Austin Whitney
