Hi y'all... Wy and I have a submission that was ready to go in...the mail and found out we need a hard copy...and not just a CD of the music. We can pay $50 to have Simple Sheetmusic including both right and left hands (not just a chord sheet) done. I'm hoping it would be fairly simple to do if you compose and have software. If I'm remembering right...there aren't any sharps or flats... I play by ear but I could figure out the notes if you would need that...(I just don't know how do determine measures and the counting) and I need it to look professional . I need someone who CAN Follow the simple mostly one note on the right hand...one note on the left hand style I've played this song in...because that is the style the publisher will look for... It will need to be done as a work for hire because publisher most likely will re-arrange. The song is called Flutterby Butterfly...It is the first one listed under children's songs.....Kaley Willow. There are other recordings of this same song on the site.... BUT we need sheet music for the one that says... Flutterby Butterfly for PP I've done a quick rough vocal too....so you'd know where to place the words on the sheet music.....and would supply that to whoever might do this for us. here are the lyrics.... Flutterby Butterfly Lyrics Kaley Willow, Wyman Griffith Music Kaley Willow ©2009, revised from 2002 Flutterby butterfly dancing on the breeze Orange velvet wings flap merrily If you could would you stop and spend some time Teach me how...to leave the ground and fly Oh flutter flutter flutter flutter flutter flutter butterfly With magic wings you dip...and then you glide Oh flutter flutter flutter flutter flutter flutter butterfly Flying across the soft summer sky Sweet butterfly... Flutterby butterfly where do you go When the summer winds no longer blow Will you spend your winter by the warm blue sea Then next year...will you come back to me Oh flutter flutter flutter flutter flutter flutter butterfly With magic wings you dip...and then you glide Oh flutter flutter flutter flutter flutter flutter butterfly Flying across the soft summer sky Sweet butterfly Flutterby Butterfly floating high and low Come back to me... Till then...I'll miss you so Here is the Soundclick Link to the music w/O vocals Flutterby Butterfly for PP/first song http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default.cfm?bandID=6469&content=musicIf anyone wants to do this, please let us know by tomorrow evening (Sat night)....and I'll check back in then... I'd prefer it kept in this key signature because it would be easier for a child to play without the flats and sharps. Would want you to follow the piano and not my vocals because I can't sing that high... If you can't, but know someone who would be willing to follow me...and work quickly with me on this....that would be super too... Thanks you guys.... Hugs... Kaley If my words don't look nice...please forgive...I'm just hurrying.....and panic -ing a bit... we start our move in 9 days....

I don't know how to do what you ask but I wouldn't need to put the words on the sheet. This was so easy to follow and sing along. What a great little song. You are so very talented Kaley. You too Wy.

Kaley, Just a tips for future scoring reference! 1. If you have any Midi sequencing software, it would be fairly easy to score (or "sequence") the melody line. Then you can save it as a .MID file or print out the melody line in treble cleff (most common for vocals, piano & guitar) in any key you want. 2. Finale has some great entry-level programs for creating and editing sheet music. For example "Songwriter" (under $50.00) and "Print Music" (under $100.00) or less if you shop around or are doing an upgrade. They make it easy to learn, and if you only score one or two songs, it could pay for itself! 3. With these programs you can play back the music (on your PC) to make sure it's correct and matches the lyrics you type in. Above the melody line you can also add the piano (or guitar) chord charts which come very handy for both guitar and piano/keyboard players. The format displays the root chords such as Am, Cmaj, B b etc. 4. You can also add a bass line for left hand piano or vocal counter part, etc. Several version let you play piano while it records the notes and converts them to score! When done, you can edit to tweak it as needed. It's quit flexible, so you can pretty much get what you need and they have good help files and tutorials to "push" you along. 5. When finished you can save the file as .MUS (music) file, print out or save in PDF format which makes it easy to save on your PC or send by email to collaborators or other musicians, etc. There might even be a forum on JPF where folks are discussing their experience with these kinds of programs or you can join a free user forum at the Finale website for additional assistance if needed. Songwriter costs only $49.95 and is probably all you'll need! You can check out the whole lineup here: http://www.finalemusic.comhttp://www.finalemusic.com/SongWriterhttp://www.finalemusic.com/PrintMusic If I had to start over, I would start with "SongWriter" and later maybe upgrade to PrintMusic if needed. Food for scoring thought! Michael

Hi Kaley: I hope your problem has been solved. I wish I still had access to "Cakewalk" 'cause it had this capability. I only needed it once but it was really nice and fairly easy to use, even for a novice. Good luck. Dave http://www.ShowCaseYourMusic.com/DaveRice

Dear Michael..... Thank you my friend... I want to do all those things so badly... I think I'd benefit from having someone come in (after we get moved) and sit with me and show me how to make the most of both the digital piano and recording software. ....This midi thing has just plain stumped me. Others have suggested I do the very same thing...and I believe I'm capable.....I'm just technologically challenged and I don't know what to plug where to get started. But..I'm also sure doing what you suggest would teach me about chords and counting. Right now....I just find the notes on the piano I hear in my mind and keep playing it till it sounds right. Thanks Michael...I appreciate both the effort and time you took to try to help me...and it is an area I definitely need to grow in... very best to you.... Kaley

Hi Kaley and Wy:
I am so relieved and happy it worked out for you. It can be so frustrating to need to provide additional requirements imposed by a few publishers. For Heaven's sake... songwriters have enough on their plates as it is. Sure, it's nice to have knowledge of how to create a score but seldom required in today's music world. After all, the publisher is supposed to do that after a contract is issued. It's just that some are bound and determined to defray even that minor cost and pass it along to the songwriter.
I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you and your important work. Kids need all the good music they can get these days.

Thanks Kaley, Glad you recieved my "tips" it so well. You're right, it really help to have someone come over, plug everything in and show you how it works! I didn't have that luxury when I started, but with a bit of faith and some trial & error, I was able to "muddle" through it... and pretty soon I was amazed how much I could do! Michael P.S. Congrats on your Song Awards nomination!

Dear Dave... I apologize so much Dave for not responding... Thank you for your thoughts and concerns....I'm really hoping to learn enough music theory...or at least how to count the beats correctly so I can do some simple scoring. I can read the notes that fall on the staff....just not above or below very well. I know the sounds of the chords and what feels right....but I don't know what any of them are called...Well that's not true...I know C E and G go together...and are a chord. I've been going around the clock since last week with moving... 12 rooms plus bathrooms ...is an undertaking I don't want to ever go through again...We're downsizing a lot!......so... I apologize again...for leaving this hanging... My email changes today for any who might read this.... Temporary email...kaleywrites4u@aol.com Dave...thanks for your encouragement and your kindness. very best Kaley

Dear Michael....YES!!.. .....thanks...again. and muddle through well you DID!!!!.... If I can JUST figure out where to plug the thing in...I think I can get started. I figured out cool edit pro software... (parts and pieces... )..enough to do simple recordings and clean them up a bit... so I'm capable...but I'm technologically challenged...but teachable... (i think). On the Nominations? I am thrilled... Our move starts today within 15 minutes...(gotta get off the computer)... We move today, tomorrow and Tuesday... we're there on Wednesday.... and leave for Nashville on Thursday. Wy's and my ..Miss Willow's Fence Row, both (the album)...and a song on it...Some Day Some Way....were nominated....and then I was tickled to pieces that one of my more adult (not kids) lyrics is nominated... So I am really excited...just to be even Mentioned. Well my 15 minutes is up....and have to get off here.... Thanks Michael...... H, Kaley
