I am interested in starting a songwriters group.
Nothing big, no huge organization, just a few folks who like to write songs and get together with other songwriters to work on their songs and improve their songwriting and musicianship skills.
I have lived in the Nashville area for 4 months and have not met a lot of songwriters yet. One reason is I don't play out. I do like to go to Open Mic nights tho.
10 or 12 people would be good. More would be ok but I think it is more difficult to do with a larger group. Not enough time can be devoted to individual songs.
I would propose meeting at least once a month but I would prefer weekly get togethers.
I live about twenty five minutes from Down town Nashville in the Joelton area. Off Clarksville Pike. My house is big enough to accommodate the group.
I have multitrack recording capabilities.
I do have a set of drums. Nothing fancy but they get it done.
I have acoustic and electric guitars and bass.
Jam sessions would be a welcome addition. I think folks can learn a lot just playing with other folks.
My own level of experience is I can play Guitar. Not a pro but not a beginner.
I write lyrics. Mostly Country (whatever that is these days).
While I do write for myself I would like to write commercially.

Well John to tell you the truth, it has been ordered but they're having trouble matching the color I wanted, hopefully it will be ready soon.....lol. lol. lol yeah right...glyn

Now see If you join a good songwritng group and get really good at writing and pitching commercial songs you'd be able to afford that Jet and Yacht.... in any color you wanted.

A Hundred or so people hanging around might be a bit much. Doak's is a great place to network. Hit writers and novices sit together in the same room. What could be better than that? I'm just looking for a small group to write and learn together. Then take what we learn to Doak's
