Hello Folks. This is a lyric I wrote right in the middle of the post election violence in my country Kenya, between December 2007 and February 2008. I later twisted it to serve as a song for world peace. What are your thoughts?
"AMANI" is a Kiswahili word (National language in Kenya and most parts of East Africa) that means Peace
Verse One God created us a people of diversity Not a people of adversity Too long Mankind we’ve been fussing and fighting Too much bloodshed in Africa
Chorus Amani Amani Amani Means peace and we need it right now Amani Amani Amani Our children want to play together Amani Amani Amani Equal rights and justice to all the people
Verse Two Together we can all say no to racism We can say no to tribalism There is a brutal war in the Middle East War in Europe and war in Asia
Chorus Amani Amani Amani Means peace and we need it right now Amani Amani Amani Our children want to play together Amani Amani Amani Equal rights and justice to all the people
Verse Three Politics doesn’t have to be dirty tricks Inciting the youth with hate speech We should learn to love one another We should care about each other
Chorus Amani Amani Amani Means peace and we need it right now Amani Amani Amani Our children want to play together Amani Amani Amani Equal rights and justice to all the people
Bridge You could have wronged me I could have wronged you, but This is the time to forgive and move as one
Chorus Amani Amani Amani Means peace and we need it right now Amani Amani Amani Our children want to play together Amani Amani Amani Equal rights and justice to all the people

Frankie,
This is a great message.. Since it isn't a lyric comprised of a standard rhyme scheme, it would be alot easier to evaluate by listening, but I think the message is appropriate, and well stated. what type of music is this written for?
..."Amani" to you.

Hi Kenneth
Thanks so much for the comments. I am essentially a reggae artist, though I can write for other genres. is a reggae song that I have taken time to write and rewrite - and I guess I am rewriting again at the moment!
It pains my heart when I think of the children of Zimbabwe, Afghanistan, Iraq, Somalia, Georgia, Philipines where there is relatively no peace as compared to other places of the world. I remember clearly the horrible post election violence in Kenya and it moves me to tears!
That is why I wrote this song! I hope in a reggae (protest style) someone will care to listen. I am almost going to the studio to do a demo of this one. I will let you listen once it is ready brother! Cheers!

HiYa Brother Frankie!
This sings well in my head tonight! GREAT Bridge...it's overall VERY Good Sentiment/should be a Good One for ya when it's recorded.
Good Luck with More Peace in 2009...and all your songs, Amigo!

I like the message of the song. I think it could benefit from more rhyme - not enough to make it feel contrived, for instance: when reading
Amani Amani Amani Means peace and we need it right now Amani Amani Amani Our children want to play together Amani Amani Amani Equal rights and justice to all the people
I read.
Amani Amani Amani Means to have peace and we need it forever Amani Amani Amani Our children just want to be playing together Amani Amani Amani Equal rights and justice for all!
something like that
Keep writing about the conflict; I think it is a great source to write meaningful lyrics.

I'd LOVE to hear you play this live, there is just nothing like a reggae show outdoors with a large crowd....

I really liked the first 2 lines in verse 3. It's well written, and the subject could use alot more songs like this.
