I've not been Real Enthused to pen Reviews of the Last Two (Sorry!) &...Life's gettin' ever More-Complicated & Time-Consuming.
Two weeks back, La Femme insisted on "Bride Wars" with Kate Hudson & Anne Hathaway. Both are Quite Photogenic/Decent Actresses. But (Yawn), the Plotline wasn't all THAT exciting & let's say it was a "5-outta-10" for me without a whole lotta Explanation other than it was kinda Contrived and not even a good Catfight Scene.
Then, last weekend, (Again, La Femme got Her Choice of Flicks to View) we caught "The Reader"...which, even with "Titanic's" Poster-Gal, Kate Winslow, near-totally-nude onscreen, it failed to deliver an Enjoyable Evening.) Set in Germany, it's got Major Doses of Angst..an interesting Plotline..Weird Characters..some (I felt) unlikely Twists, especially near The End..and it's a better Night Out than the Previous Flick, yet still a "6-outta-10" kinda flick..& better ya stay home & watch PBS for Your-Money's-Worth. (Winslow's acting WAS very good/she's still GOT her beauty, tho the character she plays is Anything-BUT-Glamorous.) Co-Star Ralph Fiennes also is noteworthy for his Acting here. Alas..the Plotline's NOT delivering too-believable A Conclusion, JMO, &..I confess I'm gettin' worn-out with ALL the Flicks constantly re-visiting the German War Crimes against The Jewish these days.
WOULD be interesting to see a Flick exploring OUR Moral Turpitude in Nuking Hiroshima & Nagasaki...(& No, I'm NOT defending What The Germans Did..just making A Point.) No Idea which Actress to cast for The Nude Scenes...but..it'd probably sell more tix than this one will.
HOPE to see Something More View-Worthy this weekend, time-permitting & our local AMC having something Wonnaful TO view, like "Milk", perhaps.
Best Wishes, Big Hugs, Stan

"Money is worst reason to be motivated NOT to do anything. Instead of letting those concerns STOP you, use it to motivate yourself to find an alternate solution that bypasses money. You will soon find that your own resourcefulness is worth far more than a pile of paper money." –Brian Austin Whitney
