Okay I told you I go from East To West, it's no wonder when I was a little boy my brother in law would say to my sister. Boy your little brother is so good just put on that TV series Kung Fu and he sits there mesmerized and quiet KF - Kung Fu movies! Of course I own all 3 seasons of that show now on DVD A Western & a MArtial arts series. Also has GREAT scenes of the Shaolin Temple with the two wonderful actors who played The Masters, Master Po Anyhow I THINK I may be alone now here I was a Bruce Lee freak when I was seven years old. My older cousin would take me down the street to see his movies. I have read his books and own all his films in a few versions! I studied martial arts a few times in my life, most recently 1995-96 (Kung Fu) MY balance disorder/illness put a stop to all that, as well as 80% of the rest of my life! Anyhow After that besides a bit of Chuck Norris I just LOVED the old Saturday Afternoon TV "Drive In" Kung Fu movies!!! They played every Sat afternoon in the late 70's and early 80's. Ya know the ones with the OVERDUBBED voices that everyone makes fun of. I am SO THRILLED now. For years & years all I had were bootleg terrible VHS copies of those flicks. I figured they were just made bad from the start, WRONG! Some companies have recently REMASTERED & ENHANCED (like I do) lol... many of those movies. They look AWESOME!!!! There are soooo many and many many bad ones, And I DO NOT like tthe modern Kung Fu Movies! Starting with Crouching Tiger which I turned off actually. There are very few new ones I like... The best now is Tony Jaa There's two words to remember with martial arts movies "SHAW BROTHERS"And of course THEE director Chang ChehI have about Oh 200 Martial Arts movies in my collection. here are my Top ten Favorite not counting/including ALL of Bruce Lee's movies! Top Ten Favorite Martial Arts Movies Of All Time!1. Master Killer (The 36 Chambers OF Shaolin) - 1978 Masterpiece! Gordon Lou 2. Fist Of Fury (Chinese Connection US) 1972 - Bruce Lee at his best! 3. King Boxer (Five Fingers Of Death) 1973 "The One that Started It All" Lo Leigh 4. The Five Deadly Venoms - 1978 These acrobat/martial artists made a few gems! 5. New Fist Of Legend - 1994 Jet Li - remake of fist of fury, OH MY GOODNESS! 6. Enter The Dragon - 1973 Bruce Lee never saw this released! 7. Eagles Claw - 1980's Good story with good fighting.... 8. Executioners From Shaolin - 1980's great story a true SB gem. 9. The One Armed Swordsman -1967 Amazing scenery. Jimmy Wang Yu Classic! 10.The Protector - 2007 Tony Jaa The new KING of martial arts movies the real deal! To many honorable mentions - All of Bruces movies. A few Jackie Chan classics like The Drunken Master, All The Five Venoms flicks.. And a slew of Ocean Shores Videos & Shaw Brothers flicks... Do I have any company? Who's gonna shock me?

I agree about the Kung Fu series w/David Carradine. The revived one was terrible though. I wanted to learn the shakuhachi after watching that show, but he didn't really use a shakuhachi in the show.
As you already know from the other post, I like the seven samurai. I also prefer reading the subtitles for foreign films and hearing it in the original language, eve though I can't understand a word.
One I'd like to see is Zatōichi (座頭市). Have you seen that?

Sub,
I also have dabbled in martial arts on and off most of my life.( Tae Kwon Do, Shaolin Kenpo, Aikido, and more recently Greco Roman Wrestling and Brazilian JuiJitsu)
I don't know if you have seen any of the series or not, but how about the STREETFIGHTER series? it really WASN't a series all the following ones were just spinoffs..
if you can find the original unedited version(it was actually originally X rated FOR VIOLENCE!!!) it is SOOO gritty and has a violence AND drama all it's own.
another GREAT FUN thread.. how could anyone NOT love a good kung fu movie?.. ( I occasionally MAKE my wife watch them with me, she LOVES it to , she just doesn't know it yet... oh well it's good payback for the occasional love story or romantic comedy!)

Very Cool Thanks Ken I did a little basic Kung Fu, Boxing, Wing Chun, & Ju Jitsu The StreetFighter films staring Sonny Chiba, I own the first one. Liked it even more when I was younger, but still had to own it today. Glad I found two people here so far. Ken do you have any of the ones on my list?

I was never big on Kung Fu movies - despite having taken some karate lessons. I did love "Enter the Dragon". And at the risk of having tomatoes thrown at me, I really liked "Billy Jack" - though I guess that was hapkido. "The Trial of Billy Jack" was REALLY bad - but had a great fight scene at the end. Scott Scott - I don't like Billy Jack I LOVE it! I have the box set of all the films. The only other great one is the prequel to Billy Jack called "Born Losers" you will love that one. Very old school Biker flick very cool! I just don't think of it as a Kung Fu movie. But it's a martial arts movie and a drama. I love when Billy says to the town head honcho... basically "I'm gonna take this right foot and place it on the right side of your face, and there's nothing you can do about it" lol.. Scott if you saw a few of the right ones you would like them and be a fan, I just know it

I'm a big fan of badly-dubbed KF movies. Of course, I was also a big fan of Chuck Norris back when he was starting out. Sure, he couldn't act, but that spinning back kick is still a thing of beauty.
I studied Kuk Sool Won and used to compete in 1 or 2 martial arts competitions a month back in the early and mid-nineties but I quit after I realized it was taking too much time away from my family.

HiYa Sub!
The Only "A" I got in 4 years of College was in a Self-Defense Class, where our Korean War Vet "Master" taught us excerpts from Judo & Karate..& one of my life's biggest thrills was pinning the Black Belted Teacher near the end of the Course..& gettin' that "A"..heh! Dave Lazor...just remembered his name after 40 years..(No Small Feat..heh!) Great Guy/Fine Master!
I liked ALL those Flicks, tho the only Kung-Fu Movie I can Name right this minute is "Kung Fu Panda"..which was a Blast! Oh..and Adam Sandler's "Don't Mess With The Zohan" was also a Treat. (I'm really Not-Too-Fond of Violence...BUT..the more ya CAN Deal With It, the Less ya gotta Endure!)
Hi-YAH, Amigo! Big Nod & a Guy-Hug, Stan

My favorite Norris movies for the more Martial Arts related are: The Octagon An Eye For An Eye
