When I get home tonight I'll include the lyrics... Hope you enjoy if you don't, tis fine to tell us!...Coloring Page,©Ron Tocknell. Doesn't show clearly but it's from the song activity book I hope to release this year..didn't make last year's goal. Some Day Some Way is from Wy's and My CD too...and is a Forever Family/Adoption Song from a Wee Fox's perspective. James Coffey Producer/Amy Moser, Vocalist. Big Blizzard's Coming, somewhere on this mp3 page, has an adorable Snowflake Maze to accompany the sheet music where kids can work through the Maze to Find Blossom Skunk and Flossie Fox before the Blizzard Comes ...but I can't get it to show right yet. Will keep trying. Best... Kaley Some Day Some Way http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default.cfm?bandID=6469&content=musicSome Day Some Way Lyrics: Kaley Willow, Wyman Griffith Music: Kaley Willow ©2008 Revised from 2003 In the forest there's an old oak tree And underneath I know there'll be A splendid den with table set for three Where Mama bakes blackberry pie And Papa waits with twinkling eyes For a little fox who looks a lot like me Some day some way Someone will love me Somewhere there's someplace for me Some day some way I'll have a home And family to call my own Each day I'll wake to honey buns Fluff my fur and when that's done Do chores and run outdoors to have some fun When night-time skies bring lullabies Mama will hug me oh so tight While papa says I love you little one Some day Some way Someone will love me Somewhere there's someplace for me Some day some way I'll have a home And family to call my own Though it might not be tomorrow I'll never give up hope I'll follow every wooded pathway Until I find my home Some day Some way Someone will love me Somewhere there's someplace for me Some day some way I'll have a home And family to call my own Some Day Some Way http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default.cfm?bandID=6469&content=music

Hi Kaley,
I listened to 3 of your children's tunes and they're all wonderful.
IMO your guy is mixing the vocals just a shade too loud... I went to itunes and sampled some kids tunes and all the modern kids tunes are mixed almost like adult tunes... maybe with the vocal just slightly louder.
James overprocessed his vocal on the blizzard song... he gave himself a lisp. He probably used a deesser and he shouldn't or didn't eq properly after compression. Just something to pass on. (the female vocalist sounds fine to me)
Other than that, the production and performances and songs are great. Those are small nits too, but James needs to be a bit more diligent when he's mixing.
Hope this doesn't rain on your parade... it's a great project and I doubt the kids'll care!
Peace,
Ian

Hi Kaley
This song is a real gem - it has a Disney quality to it. Wish they'd write the movie around it.... Tis hard to really get a sense of the drawing , but it looks Less 'cartoon' like so it feels fitting for a bit older child - not sure what age is the real target? The fox Looks real sweet, though.
Keep going - you are a real inspiration. jm

First off, this is an absolutely knock-out voice. A perfect 10. Kaley, is that you? Dang!
This project is going to be a big winner, but I need more guitar. Your voice is so strong and pretty, but it needs a little more to back it up, so I'm going to agree with Ian.
Other than that, it's dynamite. Way to go!

Kaley:
This is a very good song. Strong lyrics. The verses are very strong melodically but the chorus just soars. That's what really makes this song good. Very Disney (in the best sense.) The vocals are excellent, too.
Good luck with this one. It sounds like a winner to me.

Hi Kaley,
Very sweet song, lyrically and melodically and so well produced. This project is well worth the time and effort you've put into it. Nicely done all around.

Ian Thanks so much for listening to some of the kids' songs.....and for liking them!...That really tickled us! No on my parade and raining on it, that tis fine..... It takes a lot of rain.... We all like different things...and sometimes hear things differently. So that is fine I think we're both tickled you took the time to listen and liked what you heard.... I will tell you though...when the first CD went under a publishing contract, Jim's production was singled out....on the only song he both sang and produced called.... Dancing Down Under...and that song went on to be included on a Production Sampler. He's done quite a bit of nice things in children's music.... If I end up doing a smidgeon of what James Coffey has done,..I'll be one very happy gal..... http://www.bluevisionmusic.com/quotes.htmlYou are a super addition to the board! Thanks for making us think.... best to you this evenin' Kaley

Thank you Joice Disney is a far off word....but I always get tickled if someone even thinks something is written in a style like a Disney song..and sure Wy will be tickled to hear that too!!..Anyways.. thrilled you like it...and Hope your little friend enjoyed the CD...Thank you so much for that !!..... On the coloring page.... I'm thinking since...it's going to be in with the sheet music...(and that's the most exciting thing musically..so far...is to see the songs done up as sheet music!! I was like a kid in a candy shop!!) On the coloring page....it's much more clear when it prints out..(I think) I really like the eyes on the Fox.....The little fox is ..coming through the fence row trees ..through the leaves...with a sweet wistful....I know there is a home for me out there somewhere look!...... so I'm thinking ages 4 and up on the coloring pages.. and maybe if it is more advanced coloring than that? maybe the piano players..will do a bit of coloring.. I've done the maze...myself.... Thanks...for the encouragement, Joice. If you want to see any of the rest of the coloring pages ..holler... Hugs... kk

I guess it's like a compulsion w/ me... if I hear something that's not perfect, I say it... for me, it truly is always about getting better. I WANT people to say what they hear about my stuff. Anyway, I'm pretty sure the critique about the lisp and the voc. level are valid. Even if it's just for the next project, I'd pass on the critique. Peace, Ian

Wonderful, Kaley! I thought it was sad - but hopeful too. An adoption agency should get a hold of this. I'm serious! Scott

Hi Kevin.....Thank you on Amy' Vocals!!...I think she has a lovely sweet voice...actually..two voices and glad you thought the song was dynamite..(that's pretty cool ) ..NO...I was encouraged..to sing on this CD by some folks in the industry. ...but like Scott is saying on his most recent song post.., I've had to keep the negative voices at bay regarding my vocals.. because I've been told...anything from who would ever buy a cd with kaley's voice on it....to....Kaley, write songs specific to your character voice.. both ends of the spectrum. Not something I've ever truly had a strong desire to do...I'd rather write! But no, my voice wouldn't be good on this song... I am Blossom Skunk, though on the very last song ...on the cd...Snuggled in With Love. Jim...does put solo ballad performances out front in the mix... I think it has something to do with the type of places..his songs are placed... I'll ask him about it some time.... Thanks so much.... very best to you this morning...Kevin. Kaley

Thank you Mark....Tickled you liked this...and thanks for the comment on our verse and chorus... glad you thought it soared.... We/I have a few that I think are heading in that disney style direction... and a couple are waiting for a strong lyrical change here and there to take them to that level....I may ask for help on those this year. Best to you... H, Kaley

Ricki Thank you so much, Ricki...... Many of the songs were written in 01/02 and then some rewrites...and nit picks...and such...A few were written later on. But yes, a lot of work put into it by Wy and I...Jim and Georgean and Amy put a lot of time in on this too.....Many times giving us 3 or 4 different styles of songs to choose from...i.e., jazz..country...more folky... at an incredible price....so a win win...for all. Very best.... Kaley

Ok, I'm just going to come in and pat you on the back. I enjoyed them, as many as I could listen to. Very well done. I'm not a producer so I'll leave the mixing ideas or suggs to those that have a clue.
Great stuff you've got here, I wish you well!

Peace, Ian Dear Ian...Thank you first off for liking our songs!...Words don't always convey everything the brain wants to let out.. OR AT LEAST ....it doesn't for me... ..... I think I'm pretty well known on this board...for welcoming..Any criticism... and I am listening to what you're saying.... ... and I continue to welcome any comments..... I just also know that what James Coffey does...works for television shows, toys, and other children's writers who seek him out...and I'm also adding here..that I don't honestly know how Jim could have put any more time in for us....than what he did for what amount we paid him!...Literally..bent over backwards..both in giving us lots of options styles..for a very small amount of dollars comparatively per song. I do believe Jim is known for putting vocals out front...someday I'll ask him about that.... He will be working on another song of mine..this spring. On the lisp..,I think he has a slight one...so I'm not sure what to say there.... other than in talking with a publishing acquaintence a few years back...lisps in children's music...can work in their favor. I'm just not sure..I'm at the position right now....of questioning his work on a cd that just got a Distributor... and is selling and placing the CD's faster than I ever thought we would....Well..I never thought we'd get a distributor at all. I get excited about small things And....thankful!!! I would be curious to know if you felt the same on the other songs...I've only posted 2 of the 14. In any case, Ian...thank you.... I love your work..and thank you for passing on your knowledge and (another edit) NO...I don't want "oh isn't this nice" comments unless it's what someone really thinks....for any song I'm associated with.. I just feel a bit out of my league on questioning someone...who makes their living in children's music. Hugs...and best to you... Kaley

Hello Kaley and Wy,
Some Day Some Way is a very, very touching song especially for me. In our home, there were 4 adopted children adopted in their later years. This lyric speaks to all of those children who have waited with hope, no matter how long...because all children want and deserve one thing...a forever family. They don't stop wishing for that, even when they are older. There was a video done of our family many years ago that was used to train case workers affiliated with the North American Council on Adoption. One thing was clear in meeting with children across the country...they all have a vision of what it would be like to be wanted, loved and nurtured by one family that they could call there own. This would make a wonderful backdrop for alot of their training materials. Also, I did work for Disney for a number of years and I can tell you that this song fits in that scene extremely well and Amy's vocals would be perfect for one of their stage productions at the theme parks.
A wonderful job all the way around on this. I wish you all so much luck with this one. If it gets in the right hands...it could do so much good.
Sincerely....Jan

Wow! That's special, guys. I really enjoyed listening!
"Grits is one of those country-boy words that is both singular and plural-like deer, elk and sheep. I think the singular is appropriate when there's a modifier that makes it clear one is talking about something specific. Like, 'Grits are good for you, but these here grits is tasty.'"~~Joe Wrabek

Hi Kaley,
I wouldn't have known this was a childrens song unless I payed attention to the lyrics, for the song and performance reminded me of Sondheim's music, circa "Into the Woods" A melody that goes places, and words that go there perfectly with it. Fantastic, and the production is understated but beautiful too.

Sincerely....Jan Thank you so much Jan for sharing your story....and thinking this was fitting and worthy!...If it would offer hope....to a child...it Would be such a beautiful thing. Your story is lovely and heartwarming.....4 children big hearts.. ...That is wonderful! you definitely have first hand experience of the feelings....then... When we adopted wee one..who isn't wee anymore ...there was a little boy whose eyes...I still see....when I think of the orphange. He didn't take his eyes off of us. He went to the window after we left with our daughter,...and I remember turning around...and there he was still at the window...Those eyes..... I don't think he had as much hope in them though.....unfortunately. Thanks for sharing all of this Jan!!.... A better world for all the little ones ...some day.... Big hugs and thanks... Kaley

For me your voice sits well. It's so pure it needs to be heard - I think if it starts to sit back a llittle in the mix the clarity of your voice will begin to fade.
Be cool.

I'm from the old school pertaing to the vocal volume. I like to hear the vocals upfront in the mix. I think this mix is just about perfect coming through my Yamahas. Best, John

Hi Kaley.
This has got to be one of the prettiest, sweetest songs I've heard in a long time! The melody is beautiful. I absolutely loved it. And since I don't write childrens songs myself, I'm all the more impressed with you and Wyman for being able to do it so effortlessly.
I understand you're not the singer on this tune. Please pass on to Amy how impressed I was with her soaring vocals. Gave me shivers.
Excellent work, all of you (writers, singer, musicians, producers, mixers, etc.)

kaley, I guess this is how it is done. Breathtaking work actually. I loved the verse as every note seemed to fit and add. But then the chorus and my goodness, just magic. Tom

Kaley this just flows - it is integrated - the music and the lyrics intertwine with each other. Beautiful and graceful.

Thanks so much Tom!!...I think a lot of that is because James followed the piano/vocal worktape so well!..and I've been told a couple times that's not always the easiest thing to do.... Wy & I are tickled you liked what you heard...and are glad you listened...and looked...thank you!! very best to you this afternoon' Kaley

I have to say that was GREAT. I could hear shades of Disney myself! I don't listen to this genre much anymore ( I also don't suck my thumb anymore!) BUT, this is REALLY REALLY good. I think the lyrics are perfect for this, and the arreangement is as well.. I haven't thought much about this genre, (and I am sure THIS is not your reason) BUT commercially speaking I would HAVE to think this is a great market segment! and I think You have the HONEST motivation that translates into AUTHENTIC kid's music
I had to listen to several of your songs on your soundclick page, and I am SOOO thouroughly impressed!

Hi Kevin!!...You do NOT suck your thumb anymore ? hmmmmmm .. but am very glad you took a listen.... I know it's not always the most favorite of genres to go to for most folks... and tis fine. I blame it on a mind that may not have completely developed in some areas and fully developed in others...or maybe It's because both my collaborator and I both missed not going to kindergarten...(i better check my facts there though ) ... Just glad you liked this Kevin...so glad you took a listen... Really tickled me!!... very best to you this mornin' Make it a super one... Kaley
