Hi ya'll, back in the summer, I wrote this song and Derek did the co-write on it, Miss Caroline did some suggestions for us also..so this is a 3 way co-write..Me,Derek and Caroline..hope you like it and please tell us what you think..Mike Caro finished this for us and I do feel he did a more than great job on it..i'm so proud of him..thanks glyn How These Walls Cry Through the years I've seen many things Some I wish i had not seen I've seen men come and go Some go home and some go well, you know. It's a shame it took this to bring me to my knees It doesn't matter who you are the roughest, toughest, meanest of men With all kinds of tattoos There will come a day when you'll have to bend You know when somethings going down there's any icy wicked chill in the air and it's thicker than ice you better think twice Before you show anyone that your scared it's seeping through the walls like fingers reaching out for you stops you in your tracks afraid to breathe or even move No one makes a sound As evil floats around but, at night man you should see How these walls cry. My Mama revered the Lord She said, son you'd better be good Or you'll go straight to hell well it feels like I am in this cell Mamma did what she could But she can't stop these walls from closing in At times I swear I hear them talking I pace the floors spend hours walking At anytime my life could end When my mamma cried for me i just laughed right in her face Now her wisdom I ignored Has put me in this place No one makes a sound As evil floats around but, at night man you should see How these walls cry How these walls cry (Bridge) Well, if I could get out for just one day you know what i'd do i'd get down on my knees and kiss that woman's feet Tell her I was such a fool I've seen a man kill another man just for sitting on his bed Life means nothing behind these bars just look at someone wrong and your dead Yeah they act so tough swearing, cussin' and fighting At night the damned lay still scared by a little thunder and lighting No one makes a sound As evil floats around but, at night man you should see How these walls cry How these walls cry

OK, I'm going to have to find new words now, all I can think of when I hear this is... WOW!! Mike did an amazing job, and even the length is enjoyable.
I'm so proud of where Glyn and Derek took this, you two did some great work, and it was well worth the wait. Very HOT!!!!

Very nice work, guys (and gals). Impressive. Pat yourselves on the back. (Actually, better pat each other--less chance of dislocating anything). Good work--and a fascinating listen all the way through.

Hi Colin, Mike Caro wrote the music, well, Derek had started it, and I think Mike used parts of what Derek had, but mostly Mike did the music and production...thanks for stopping in and giving this a listen..I really do appreciate it...glyn

Joe, why thank you, and really this was a fun one to write, I actually had like 2 whole pages on it, once I got started writing I just couldn't stop, Like Kaley had once said, I'm sure there's enough of the rough draft left for a second song..we'll have to see about that later..thanks so much for your feedback..love glyn

"Yeah they act so tough swearing, cussin' and fighting At night the damned lie still scared by a little thunder and lighting"
These lines say it all. If you don't believe that, put your boots on, and let me take you down the road one time.
I gave a listen, and loved the vocals and the guitar........

Yes, Ricki, Mike has done a great job on it, couldn't have been better, and Derek really laid the grounds for it too. i'm proud of both of them and for Mike to come in and finish this the way he has, like I said, he really put alot of himself into this, Ijust wish I could have seen him performing this in person..man,I bet that was really something to see. Maybe some day I will get to...who knows....thanks for listening , we all appreciate it so much..thanks glyn

Hey Calvin, We all are bowing...Glyn wrote the original lines, Derek made some changes and I edited a few words to clean it up a bit. Combined efforts are always so good!!! If you hear any hollow knocking sounds, we've all bumped heads in this little bowing circle.
Scott, Ricki, Sam, Louis, This has turned out way better than I expected. I'd not heard it with music when Derek had done it, well, not thoroughly, (dial up really sucks) so I didn't have any idea how it was going to truly sound. Mike took what Derek had, and this is what happened! I'm in awe. I wasn't really expecting this to be this good. Honestly, I wasn't sure, I couldn't hear it play, and I thought it was entirely too long to keep interest! I'm so glad I was WRONG!!! OK, sorry, I'll stop now!!
Derek and Glyn did a lot of work to this, and they deserve so much credit for their efforts here!! <applause!!!> and Mike, he needs to bow too, well, carefully, maybe a head nod....

Glynda, Derek and Caroline,
This is awesome. Mike did an excellent job on it. This should be on the radio. The lyric is excellent and I can't even begin to say how good Mike interpreted this. Great work by all. It's downloaded!

Hi First of all let me say thanks to Glynda, Caroline & Derek. You guys all did some real nice work here. Very inspiring! And I'm SO happy for Glynda who is really just getting into all of this and is sharing the GREAT feeling of collaborating and hearing her work being fu-filled & produced!! Meaning - Isn't it AWESOME to pop this song on in anyones car or computer or Ipod or whatever and watch there head spin and face change I LOVE that! and for me to say that after having that feeling for the first time nearly 30 years ago!!! That's why I say "you can't produce & take everything you do to the hilt" but don't wait for what you think is a "Hit" to DO something with your work. We should all live so long This is HOW you learn and grow and get better. Regardless of ANYTHING you now have a product that is gonna command respect! And also experience in dealing with several things in music, important things! ------------------- Derek laid this song map out musically. His emotion and initial feel is what I found appealing and inspiring when re-working it from scratch. Actually i wanted to have him still do the talking intro section for the recording or if he wasn't available I would have loved to get Tom Franz on this. I was personally very happy with this and it came out better than I thought it would. The song and the whole project surprised me the way it grew as it went along. There were 3 collaborators on it before i got it and no one actually gave me an input, advise or direction Sometimes that's even better.. even though i love when someone has it all planned out for me to follow exactly. I still admire someone who "doesn't tie my hands" Many times I'm told "do not deviate from what I sent you" So many times I have to work on something and fight my instincts to make it better. When I know it can be better. And many times that could be the slightest thing or very small changes. Not only with melody or lyric or arrangements, but with instruments as well. Well Glynda just said "mike do whatever you want with this, make any changes or adjustments you feel are needed. In other words Produce it! Also extended co-write offers and all the kindness and generosity you could ask for. As did Caroline & Derek. So I got to some minor editing, arranging and tempo setting. Taking what Derek had and locking it up tighter and making some changes phrase wise and such. I changed the melody of the second verse by adding that rhythmical vocal part on the "paced the floors" section and did a re-vamp of the bridge. Altered a word or two too make it sing better. The big key was to make it more singable and take the song that was over 5 minutes cut it down and even though it's still a touch long "Pop wise" it doesn't feel that way. The song grew on me as i started tracking, I was proud of this project cause I physically and mentally didn't think i would get through. My fingers are mostly numb now all the time.. i think due to my neck, back & nerve damage, The EMG test next week will confirm that if nothing else. I'm the first one to KNOCK my own work, playing, singing and EVERYTHING! I'm at least happy that I find that pretty much I'm the only one knocking me LOL... A friend who works with me all the time came in at the end of this and heard the mix in the studio. He said "Who's playing the guitar? It's killer! and did you hire a drummer for this one? So is that you singing, it is right? lol Now YOU know I play everything and you still asked those questions lol.... There's about 4 different percussion on this, and LIVE everything! So as I sat there lopsided on my chair, in pain and dizzy & weak but that spark still gleamed in my eyes. Instead of being defeated I got worked up inside. pushed myself best I could and I SMOKED this tune! Yay!! Thank you guys for helping put that spark & that gleam in!!!

Hey, Mike you deserve it...can't wait till I write another one...and the main reason I'm even doing this, is that there is so much in my mind...just want to get it out there. and to leave my kids and grand kids something that they can have and say, hey, my mom and my grandma did this.......any other reason really doesn't matter. Yeah I'd love one to do something , but it's mainly for family reasons...thanks again Mike, love glyn and tell Tripp I said Hi...

Wow! I just finished listening to this outstanding song. The music and vocal totally captured the mood and intensity of the lyrics. This song is a great example of how powerful collaboration can be. Congratulation to all the writers.

Wow.... look at what happened while I was away :O
Amazing that what brought me and Glynda together on this song was our experiences with prisoners and prisons.. She had some awesome words and ideas and thoughts that just needed some gentle tweaking... Where my part really came in was like Mike mentioned in the emotion of the singer. At one point someone said it was a little "over the top" for someone in prison to express these type of emtions and also not safe for them... I am so glad that mike didn't dampen the emotion (if anything he emphasized it even more!) because I have seen first hand this emotion expressed by prisoners. For instance when a loved one died on the outside and they had no way to get there for the funeral. When one of them was the last person another prisoner talked to before attempting to end his life... yes in those moments those walls really do cry. I'm also glad the spiritual aspect was kept because those in prison (whether they be officer or prisoner) know that spiritual darkness all to well.. Thank you so much Glynda and Caroline for being bold enough to take this one to Mike... and Mike thanks so much for keeping the strong parts strong and strengthening the weak ones... This message really speaks to me and I pray that it will reach out to those lost souls in prison and possibly give them so hope for the future.. Prison like some many things in life is what you make of it and even in an environment of perpetual darkness there is an occasional light,, I pray that we can all contribute to this... Thanks everyone for your lovely commments and I''m sorry I wasn't here in the beginning when this thread started, but here I am now.. Thanks again to Glynda, Caroline and Mike Caro... you guys rock! keep on rockin! Grace and Peace to you That gUy

just a couple of months ago the state here brought in an inmate that had hung him self to our emergency room..the family came and I was working on the inmate, patient..and the guard that came in with him was the one that found him...it took an awful hold on this guard, I called for the hospital chaplain to come and talk to the guard first.....you could see the pain and stress, etc in his face, eyes.......yes, everyday life, even away from the jails we some times are faced with the reality of this other life...prison life....I just pray to God....thanks Derek for showing up and putting your thoughts into this..love you Derek..glyn

Has a almost Santana meets spaghetti western feel to it. Nice interpretation of Derek's original version. Wow, the intensity is really picking up on this one. Good production and performance Mike and great job by all involved!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, well, well! Talk about a success story. Glynda, Derek, Caroline and of course the indomitable Mike, you have every right to be proud of this one. It seems like everyone literally stretched themselves to take this song to a supreme height. As has been noted, it truly does capture the essence of the prison experience (or at least as I "know" it). I was a huge follower of the now-cancelled HBO prison series "Oz"....and this would have been the perfect theme song. Gritty, sad, powerful, frightening....you've managed to convey all of these feelings in spectacular fashion. Mike, understanding the physical toll this clearly took on you, I'm so delighted that you're happy with the outcome. You're sort of like the marathoner who just needs to get over that last hill...and you're struggling....but the crowd sees this and cheers you on and their enthusiasm helps you cross that finish line. Finally Glynda...I'm especially pleased for you. These accolades are the result of Good Karma. And Catharsis. And The Beginning of a Happy and Productive Chapter in Your Life. You've done enough "time" behind bars...so glad you've at last been "parolled".... (figuratively speaking, of course...). Just try not to bump heads when you all take another bow.... Best of luck, Beth

Yes,we're al..,,,,////dang it Caroline, git over, this is my curtain call...Derek get off my foot.....ok now , i've got them outta da way..thank you so much Beth, this one has been a long awaited one. but it was worth the wait...but, like i've said before it took all of us to end up with this song..you can ask everyone, when they get my rough drafts, they want to throw their hands up, they're too long and don't even rhyme and Caroline and Derek and Louis and Janis has all been there for me..and I'm very lucky that they don't throw me in the river...without all of these wonderful people my stuff would still be just on a piece of paper, but they work them over and make them into beautiful songs..and yes, I am very thankful....ok Derek, you can unlock that door and let Caroline out......thanks glyn Ok I for sure can not forget Mr. Mike Caro and Heather too......glyn gotta run, here comes C and she ain't happy..............

Well done to everyone in making this excellent song, but especially to Mike because I can tell you really had dig deep to get this one out because of your health problems, and you are a very inspirational person.
PS. I was watching my soccer team - Spurs - play the other week against our London rivals West Ham. It was 0-0 at half time, and on came that song again - All Together Now - with Mike Caro on guitar. I knew we'd win then, and we did 2-0.
Never give up!
