If I'd Had Any Idea ©2008 Shayne Vaughan
Countless nights her tender loving Made my heart feel satisfied Remember many happy mornings As I'd wake up by her side She'd hold me close and kiss me Like she needed me so much Unbelievable sweet sensation Her fingers had that certain touch She never said she loved me I thought her actions made it known If I'd Had Any Idea that she would leave me I sure would have left that woman alone
She would always call at lunchtime To ask about my day I'd tell her that I missed her And she would say the same I'd be the first to punch the time clock When all my work was done I'd race home like Earnhardt Jr. So she and I could have some fun I'd lock all the doors And she'd unplug the phone If I'd Had Any Idea that she would leave me I sure would have left that woman alone
Bridge: Love is always a gamble Some will win, others will lose Some things are just not meant to be And we're left without a clue
Sometimes now when I get lonely I can't help but think of her But I won't call her number 'Cause I know she's not the cure I'm trying hard to move on And find somebody new Someone who will love me That I can count on to be true Guess who called today And left her message at the tone? If I'd Had Any Idea that she would leave me I sure would have left that woman alone
Tag: I wish I'd left that woman alone

This flows nicely, Shayne. My only suggestion would be to delete "that" from the second-last line in each couplet at the end. Donna

That's a nice tight song from start to finish.. . very concise. I don't have much to add but I would like you to know thta I could "hear" this one in my head almost from the first line.. and I can't see any lines that stand out as awkward or a "clunker".
very universal message... It may be better to have loved and lost, but I don't know anyone who would CHOOSE it!
