I got the first drum at a local African art gallery/shop where the guy displays/sells masks, spears, statuary, and various other African artifacts.........and paid like $162.00 for it.
I would like to know if anywhere else has a much better selection and/or price on hand drums.....I have heard a lot of good reviews about Sam Ash, but I haven't made it there yet......
Perhaps someplace that might have drums from other countries than just Africa? Native American, Cuban, Asian?

Hey Sam,
Ask Jabberwock in Ithaca, NY. They would have them or know who you could get a hold of to get hand made drums. There are a lot of people in ithaca who play those type of drums.

We have tons of ethnic drum here in the Philippines that sold in the highland of Baguio City. Are you going to be a collector of this kind of musical instruments?

Sam, A friend of mine plays a drum called a cajon (Spanish for box or crate) which originated in Peru, I believe. It is like a wooden box that you can sit on and you can get sounds out of it like a snare drum or a tom tom, etc. Very cool. You can buy them on line from Musicians Friend or ZZounds.
