At last, a Movie about IMAGINATION that HAS Some!!! (Amd..makes you ask the question "Where's TODAY's Howard Hughes..when we could really USE One?"
So, let's start Giving Credits-Where-Due:
WELL-Directed by Jon Favreau, WELL-Written by Mark Fergus, Hawk Astby, Art Marcum & Matt Holloway...Based on Marvell Comics Characters created by Stan Lee, Don Heck, Harry Lieber, & Jack Kirby. (Whew!) And what a Great "Team Effort" this IS!!!
The Movie itself is about a wealthy son of an Arms-Making-Magnate, (Robert Downey, Jr. as) Tony Stark. Tony's inherited 56% of the huge Company, often run in-absentia while Tony pursues That Which Interests Him, by Obadiah Stane (Jeff Bridges). There's a lot of eventual Power-Struggle involved, as Tony decides, after a Life-Crisis, that maybe his Company's weaponry's taking its toll on Both Sides..and he wants to get into the Cheap Energy Source Business Full-Time.
Stane, who's on the Board of Directors, AND doing some Arms Deals under-the-counter with the Bad Guys, gets prototype pieces of Tony's "Iron Man" weapons system..& Away We Go...Power Struggle on a Massive Scale, (yet Mano-a-Mano)..."Visionary-vs-The Greedy Corporate-Mind". Ably-Assisted by Secretary/Near-Love Interest, Gwyneth Paltro, Tony (In an overall Fabulous Performance) has the fight of his life by the Last Reel.
Special Effects gets a "10"; the Movie rates a "9-Outta-10", only because some of the Acting's a wee Notch-below the Effects. (Paltrow's character won't dazzle the "Liberated" Gals out there, I regret.)
Terrace Howard and Leslie Bibb DO get nice Supporting Roles as Air Force "Coverup" Honcho Jim Rhodes and Vanity Fair Reporter, Christine Everhart. (Her brief-but-Sizzlin' Love-Scene with Tony Stark is reason-enough NOT to take Young Kids to see this Often-Violent, Testosterone-Laced, Thoroughly-EXCITING bit of Often-Patriotic ENTERTAINMENT.)
"Hats-Off" to Cast & Crew: Well-Done!
JMO...Keep-or-Sweepit! Big Hugs, Stan

Happy t' be Of Assistance, Bro Rob!
Yep, RDjr always WAS a Great Actor..just had a few Chemical Issues as Many of Us Have..in da past. But he's (can I use this oft-Over-Used Word?) SPECTACULAR in this Flick..his Character stays FASCINATING & the Props they made here are WONDROUS.
(&..if ya like Making Things...wait'll ya see Downey's "Home" Machine Shop...It's to Die For!!! {Plus, I'd KILL for just ONE of his Smart Robotic "Assistants"!})
Bet ya get a BIG Kick out of this Baby, right down to the last Line in it!~
Best Wishes, Stan

St Pete Times reviewer gave it an "A-"...today..which is a rarity..
And..I guess..gets me off the hook..heh! (When the PROS say "A-", guys like me breath a sigh-of-relief!)
Just saw "Made of Honor"..liked it..a lot. Dunno if the Pros will, but, since Audience burst into applause..just like "Iron Man's" did..I think it's deserving of the "8-outta-10" I'm giving it, soon's I get the review finished-up.
For some reason, CBS's signals come in Badly on our set (We don't get cable..don't watch much TV, alas) so...I wuz watchin' Leno on NBC & Sen McCaine's Wife was the guest. QUITE an Impressive Gal...Pilot's License..Good Sense of Humor..Survived/recovered-from a Stroke..As Intelligent as she is Beautiful..& no hint of being a Spoiled Rich Gal...at all. Excellent "First Lady" Material, IMO...& probably garnered her Hubby a lotta votes from the "Undecided" out there.
Hey..& she's From Arizona, too!
Best Wishes, Big Guy-Hug, Stan

RDj was also fantastic in Kiss Kiss Bang Bang if you haven't seen... hilarious movie!
I see that Iron Man had the 10th biggest opening in movie history... and what do you know.. it's a good movie to boot!

HOPEFULLY the Producers made a BUNDLE of Loot off this Baby, so they'll make MORE Flicks with GOOD Acting, Plotlines, and Special Effects-Galore...that make an audience feel GOOD at the Ending, & GLAD to have spent the Time & Gasoline necessary to get there & see it.
Me, I saw it for free...heh-heh...so trust me, this is an Honest Assessment..I got nothin'-invested except for the Popcorn & Coke, which I allus buy to keep my conscience clear & the Theater Open!
Dunno HOW Hollywood's gonna do A Sequil to this...but yeah, I'd pony up for a ticket!
Thanks for the Stats, Amigo...We Yanks sure Love our Super-Heros, eh?

RDj gives it his all in any movie he does. He must give it his all in everything he does, hence the hard time kicking the habit. I'm wondering if the movie he did "Less Than Zero" contributed to his addiction. I can see him wanting to research for the part.Man I'd love to get paid for watching movies.Or playing video games. I hated the first "Hulk". I still watch the Hulk series with Bill Bixby Have a Great Day

HiDee Mz Woo!
I felt SO sorry for RDJ when he lost his part on Ally McBeal...
BUT this Flick proves ya can't keep a Great Actor Down...forever.
I missed "The Hulk" flick 'cuz La Femme wouldn't go off & get the Free Tickets..(She doesn't "Do" Cartoons..heh!)..& I'm threatened with Arrest if I ever set foot on Tampa Tribune Property again..(Search "The Terrorist Bean Pod" Song..somewhere backaways a year ago.)
WOULDA gladly-reviewed it...BUT my "Credentials" with Allied Advertising have YET to be "Appreciated"...so No Free Tix coming My Way UNLESS my wife Waits in Line at the Newspaper.
As for Kicking The Habit...I'm surprised at How Many People, KNOWING stuff IS "Addictive"..assume "It'll Never Happen To Me".
Waal...back to my Amberbock..heh!
Thanks for Your Kind Visit M'LadyChum! Big Hulky-Hugs, Stan

YAYYY!
Thanks for Confirming My Call, Amigo!
NOW...IF Hollywood'll JUST come up with a NON-Comics-Based Blockbuster, it'll be a Perfect Year at The Movies~
This WAS a Pretty Good One, on all counts/maybe "Real Life" is too-boring for the Bigscreen...I dunno.
Thanks for Your Kind Visit, Amigo/Glad ya Liked this Good'n'~ Big Guy-Hug, Stan
