C.R. AVERY features at PROVIDENCE POETRY SLAM singer/songwriter open mic this THURSDAY, 4/17!!

Tired of the same old open mic where the barroom conversations are shouted over the music, the performers drag out their "Freebird" covers to epic proportions, and the energy is so low that the audience is half-asleep?

Then the PROVIDENCE POETRY SLAM singer/songwriter open mic is the show for you!!

* Each musician is alloted 8 minutes on stage; each poet, 3 minutes!
* ONLY original works can be performed!
* We welcome ALL types of performers, not just singer/songwriters!

And to top it all off, we're honored to have an amazing feature performer for this month's show: C.R. AVERY!!

C.R. Avery is an accomplished multi-instrumentalist - guitar, piano, harmonica, keytar (yeah, that's right - keytar) - as well as a singer and beatboxer. And he's just as comfortable writing for the page in addition to writing music (check out his website - www.cravery.com - for selections of his writing, as well as tourdates, an autobiography, and even some short films). C.R.'s natural performance ability has garnered praise from the likes of Tom Waits, Jolie Holland, and Sage Francis, to name a few.

You seriously don't want to miss this guy!!

Come on out to AS220, support local independent artists, and check out the singer/songwriter open mic this Thursday!!
