It comes with a heavy heart that I make this announcement. But with the decline of music and the ability to make money with it, I've decided to give away all my gear, sell my studio and stop making any music. Best of luck everyone.

Whoa! What a horrible news flash this is. I couldn't be more surprised.
Jody, I don't know you, but I have checked out your site and music quite a bit, read many posts. You must know how good you are, how much knowledge and ability you have acquired. I'm really sorry to see someone of your caliber hang up the towel.
I do understand making a living, however. In the old hierarchy of needs, food and shelter come first, and it's a bitter pill when we realize our fondest desires sometimes need to be set aside.
But...why give it all away? Why stop making music? Did you fall in love with music because it could possibly become a business?
Maybe if you keep your stuff and not worry so much about the money side...maybe you'll find yourself writing in a different way, with a different perspective and no expectations....and possibly strike while the irony is hot, and write that hit you needed in the first place...
Oh well, just sad to hear a story like that. Hope you're okay with the decision.
PM me for my address...I'll take the Mac Pro... (not).

I am the mother...
I have purchased the rights to the Jody Whitesides name, and I'll be putting together a band - six bands, in fact - which will be touring pool halls all over the South, or perhaps the North, playing original death-polka songs which I need to get around to writing.

After careful consideration, I think Jody might be right. Maybe we should all get out now before it consumes our lives, depletes our bank accounts, and leaves us with no other option than to strum our guitars on street corners with an upturned top hat hoping passersby will grace us with their unspent coins.
So with that said, I'm hanging up my top hat and putting away my guitar in exchange for a college degree and a decent career teaching english in some high school in america.
At least I will be aiding in the education of tomorrows' leaders, teachers, musicians and creative personalities.
So heres to quitting music!!!!

Well.... I don't know about you guys and gals... I'm getting extremely wealthy!
Jody... I sure hope this is an April Fool's post. If it's not... step back about 20 paces, take a deep breath and don't make any important decisions (like quitting music) until next Friday.
As for the rest of you banjo pickers... please quit and leave the field open for me. LOL!

Some of ya fell for it. Some of ya didn't. I was pulling an April Fools fast one. It was actually pretty darn nice feeling the phone calls I got and the responses of people telling there's no way I could possibly hang up the musical hat.
Good catch on Brian.
To everyone that actually bought it, I apologize for causing you to feel like there was a death in the family. But it was all in good fun for a day.

Not only did I fall for your joke, but earlier when I walked into my pizza shop I was greeted with the Blue Screen of Death on our computer. My computer geek assistant manager had set me up good. Many other things too, like taping down the button for the phone receiver to make it seem like it didn't work...setting all the spreadsheet text to the color white...disabling the internet...taping the mouse. I flew into a rage and fired him. I waited until his face was fully a whiter shade of pale, then another few minutes, before I cracked up and said "gotcha back, didn't I?"

Oh man, Mark, that was a good one. Once I turned my roommate's entire closet inside out and turned everything in her side of the room upside down or backwards. That was fun. Linda
