14-time Just Plain Folks Awards nominee Shandy Lawson has released his fifth album, "The Dark Side Of Red," and made it freely available via download.
Decidedly Alt-Country, this collection retains the lyric-driven and folk-inspired perspective of his prior releases, while continuing to expand his instrumental repertoire. His fast-growing reputation as a deft studio engineer and indie producer is also solidified here with these ten tracks.
Consistent with Lawson's eclectic choice of subject matter, the songs on "The Dark Side Of Red" cover topics such as a love affair that defies amnesia, a backstage moment at a community theater, the great Joe Louis and what Lawson plans to do with his power when he is king. Each song spins a tale and offers an intriguing glimpse into its own surreal world.
Two of Lawson's full-length releases have won Just Plain Folks' Traditional Folk Album Of The Year, and in 2006 he was dubbed Lyricist Of The Year. His latest can be downloaded, in part or in whole, by visiting http://ShandyLawson.com
