I love you, too, Tricia...you lil' crayfish!
Hey, Brian..i'M REALLY LUCKY..MY NEUROPOTHY IS NOT PAINFUL AT ALL...JUST SOME NUMBNESS...KINDA LIKE THE SENSATION BETWEEN MY EARS......TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF, JUNIOR!( I keep hitting that darn caps button)
HI, Bob Cushing..I like you too, man you seem like a real good guy even tho, politically I think your head is up your butt..but..what the heck! It's one sure way to hold those hemorhoids at bay..
Bill Robinso n! How are ya'. Hope things are healthy at your house,,,how are you liking Nashville? Be careful what you wish for..I just might show up on your doorstep some morning..just ask Bobbie Gallup!
I gotta go get some sleep..we were up last night watching the primary returns..my wife is for Hillary, I'm with Obama, but neither of us would be terribly upset if McCain won in November. Except for his stance on the war, we find him to be a pretty moderate Republican and an honest and honorable man This is the first time in 8 years I haven't been dreading the election..feels good for a change...
John Fogerty is my friggin' hero! That guy still has plenty to say..and he sez it loud and strong..and I agree..his guitar and singing chops are as good or better than when he was a wild eyed young rocker..
He's a good one
It's nice to see all you kids again..it's good to be back..thanks for the warm welcome
Bob

John Fogerty is a good dude! Not only a great musician and entertainer but a decent human being. Mr.Fogerty helped fund for tombstones for unmarked graves for some of the Blues greats. Loads of talent and cool to boot!

Microsoft will they ever produce a ready to go product? NO Why should they. They have a few million product testers out there in the form of you and me. We test the product and tell them what isn't working and they fix it. Saves a lot od R&D.

Microsoft was single-handedly responsible for the practice of releasing software to get it on the market before the debugging is essentially complete. Prior to the Microsoft era the operating systems and software programs that were created by the big software firms like IBM, Sun, and others were so exhaustively tested that the odd chance of a bug in the software was a rare event. Microsoft, in their infinite brilliance (at marketing) knew that to come out on top they had to hit the market first, no matter the quality of the product. The first Windows system was virtually useless, but it hit marketplace first ahead of Apple with a graphical user interface, and it bought the company time to improve it's product and become an industry leader. The fact that one company was willing to make such huge compromises with quality to hit the market first forced other companies that wanted to compete to also take the short-cut to the market with the understanding that they could release patches later to correct the problems. Now it is simply a standard practice to debug to a certain minimum level of defects.

I've got an idea! {Oh no!} How about creating our own JPF version of "CNN Crossfire" starring the 2 Bobs {Young and Cushing} we could call it "BOB ON THIS!" It would be a hoot!

Hey Jack I think you and Bill nailed it
Microsoft releases demo versions of all their products before release. Sounds like a real nice thing of them to do right? Yeah they get thousands of people to subject their poor computers to an unruly operating system with bad driver support and those people in turn give them feedback on what needs fixing. Wow talk about elimating the middle man. They still need bug fixers, but they have thousands of users (product testers) they don't pay a dime to that find the bugs. Now one would think they would then at least give those "testers" a complimentary copy of the O/S? Nope they can pay for it just like everyone else. I hear there are penalties enforced against coportate users who refuse to upgrade as well. Yup ole Microgodfath err soft. Has a nice tight wrap on us all. Linux Ubuntu here I come! lol Derek

The first Windows system was virtually useless, but it hit marketplace first ahead of Apple with a graphical user interface I do believe the Apple Lisa came out in 1983 and the Macintosh in 1984. The first version of windows was released in 1985. Microsoft, for all its faults, has done a pretty decent job of providing tools to developers to help them work on IBM compatible machines. The fact that vendors did not have drivers available for Windows Vista may or may not be the fault of MS. The vendors need to accept responsibility, too. They had about a year to get ready. Kevin

Kevin you are correct, unfortunately when vendors sell computers they do not put a disclaimer to the effect that the Vista drivers most of them use do not work and there is little or no chance of resolving the issue. To be fair the vast majority of folk do not experience this prob because they do not use many sophisticated music production progs which are the main causes for these issues to spring to life.

I have just listened to some AI finalists well a few seconds of each is all I can stand. Most if not all are nasal. This new style of NOSE singing really pisses me off. Can they not use their diaphragm. Or better still if their mothers had used theirs we would not have to be listening to them at all. LOL

Hey Big Jim
Nice turn of phrase there. Some nose singing is ok in my opinion. Using a little of each helps accentuate; however, singing mainly through the nose gives no depth. I think I know exactly what you mean. It wouldn't shock me at to learn that the Idoler's were using some sort of pitch correction effect either. Derek

I was under the impression (from my wife) that there is a lot less "pitchiness" in this crowd than in years past. I guess now that it is down to the last 12, I'll be joining the fam for American Idol nights from now on.

Ok before I cast anymore stones.
I do have to admit it's interesting to watch the last few minutes of recap at the end of the show; however, To me those last few minutes are the best part of the show lol. Derek

Derek.....Yes, American Idol SUCKS!! I have never watched one episode. However, I have seen those aweful commercials. Some sound like they are singing themselves to death. (And everyone else!) The others sound like a mad cat being shook violently in a bag! So yes.......it SUCKS!

Hey Dodaddy Just goes to show even people with different backgrounds can think alike! Yea I'm kinda sick of all the attention the AI thread is getting, but really what can I do. I've pointed out how fake it is; that it's reality tv. Everyone who knows seems to accept it and still like the show. Those who don't agree, well some people believe Professional wrestling is real as well . Derek

Derek the main reason I hate it and few people have picked up on this point or agree with me is the exploitation. I am referring to the people in the first few shows who are soooo baaad that they get laughed at. What we do not take into consideration is that a lot of these gullible people have learning problems and disabilities or mental health issues. I am incensed at the way these people are laughed at and encouraged to make a foll of themselves. I have pointed this out many time but most folk do not give it much thought.

Hi Jim
Not sure if it was here or the AI thread, but I pointed that out just yesterday. No one commented on that piece though. I didn't talk about the exploitation piece, what I mentioned was why start a show off with the people who obviously haven't got it? Do I want to watch sports reels of the loser team? No! I want to watch hightlights of those who are doing well. It's sad that people actually find laughing at these poor people entertaining. Some people need to grow up, Simon Cowell I'm looking at you! Derek
Hey Jim It was on the Idol thread on my response to keepitjammon.

I read your post. But you did not raise my point exactly. Exploitation in this way is bad. Many people saw nothing wrong with laughing at or exploiting people who obviously had "problems" and I find that attitude bewildering.
My youngest son has severe learning difficulties. My daughter has mild learning problems. I am involved with special needs adults outings and clubs and even in this day and age people poke fun or laugh when they see some of these people.
So what message is AI sending out?

Yeah, it's easy to hate something you've never watched. That's a really informed decision there.
This post has crossed into gratuitous negativity. It's one thing to have a legitimate argument over politics are a particular topic, but to simply have a post where a disgruntled person can pick fights with people for sport isn't really the type of thing I want around here. So, though some of you disgruntled folks will likely scream your head off, I am locking this post. Let's get back to something more productive. I'll leave the Political discussion going for now, but it's time we reign in the bitch and fighting and attacks a bit. There are plenty of places for disgruntled people to go and get into flame wars with others. This isn't going to be one of them.
