"THE BANK JOB" is your Typical "Let's dig a hole under your average Bank Vault & loot it..'cuz their Seismic Alarm's off for a week" Plotline. (Atypically, it nets MORE loot than The Great Train Robbery, & it's something that ACTUALLY Happened!)
"Based on a True Story" in 1970's London England, (and SOME of "The Details" WON'T be De-Classified until 2058!) it goes WAY-Deeper than "just-about-The-Money": a Band of inexperienced Lowlifes is recruited to do this deed because a black racist organization's head has "compromising pics" of a Royal-in-Action. MI-5 (or is it 6?) wants the Pics & The Organizer "Gone"..but cant'..or won't..do their OWN "Dirty Work".
Among the "take" is an accidentally-burgled Porn King's Payoff-to-corrupt Cops Ledger Book...& suddenly EVERYBODY's doing BAD Things To EVERYONE-involved. And Chief-Burglar/ex-Used Car Dealer Terry Leather (Jason Stoneham, "Well-Done, Mate!") wants to get back to Normal Life with his pretty wife & 2 daughter Family.
SOME of What Goes ON Here you'd instantly nit as "Hard-to-Believe" in a Work of Fiction. BUT this IS one Heck of an Exciting Crime Movie..and Real-Life among the Low-Lifes IS, apparently, VERY-Entertaining!!! (& How Many criminals get "An Assist" from Lord Mountbatten?) See what I mean? ;->
Between the Well-Staged Sexy & Violent Scenes, I'd recommend leaving the kids at-home. As for Sexy, Saffron Burrows, as Martine, (Who initially gets blackmailed into creating the Heist) holds her own with any Sophia Loren for classic, sophisticated On-Screen Sizzling! I'd give it an "8-Outta-10" for Suspense, Sizzle, and Excitement. Fine Directing by Roger Donaldson, and the Screenplay by Dick Clement and Ian La Frenais unfolds as-dramatically as a "True Story" ever could.
Bring a little Extra-Padding for The Edge of Your Seat.
JMO..Keep-o-r-Sweepit!
Big Hugs, Stan

I'll Bump this Baby Up-to-the-Top since it's the Last One I've reviewed..& I Recommend Ya See It..'cuz It's a True Story..& it WAS really an Exciting Flick/Deserves some High Praise, IMO.
Big Hugs, Ol' Stan

"Money is worst reason to be motivated NOT to do anything. Instead of letting those concerns STOP you, use it to motivate yourself to find an alternate solution that bypasses money. You will soon find that your own resourcefulness is worth far more than a pile of paper money." –Brian Austin Whitney
