Hi Folks,

Next up we visited Salzburg, which is a very different city than Vienna. It's much smaller and completely different in vibe and look. It's tucked into the Austrian Alps (opposite where we were in Germany earlier in the trip). It's claim to fame is being the birthplace of Mozart and it's clear that he's as important to their economy as Elvis is to Memphis. And that's how it should be because Mozart is probably the Elvis of his era.

We'd been pushing ourselves for a over 3 weeks already on the trip and we nearing the mid point. We needed a break and we'd get it at our next stop in Hallstatt. Salzburg was a nice enough place for a visit and as opposed to Vienna, one day was plenty to see the gist of what it was all about. If I were suggesting what folks visit, I'd say to do Vienna and Hallstatt and Lichtenstein Klamm (which we'll visit after Hallstatt). I'd probably pass on Salzburg. Unless you're a Mozart freak, you won't really miss it.
