I just got back from a NSAI critique session in Nashville.
You aint gonna believe this but there was at least 42 people in the room. It was held in Alabama's old studio and I think they musta had at least 42 hits.
And I was hangin' around with Al cause I thought it would make me look smarter Looks like we was both wrong, or both right, which is it?
I think I'll go check the Cow thread and see if Nathan gave us an answer yet

You know I'd like to see a '42 Caddy drive up a 42 degree grade at 42 miles an hour. Maybe one of the 16 cylinder jobs could do it! A 42 degree grade is pretty steep.
Yeah, I thought of this too, Jack. Also, this would translate to an elevation gain of 148,000 feet, or roughly 5 Mount Everests. (Coincidentally {or not}, this would also be about 42 Mt. Bovines). Then, it occurred to me that, in his wisdom, Bill was simply giving us a theoretical construct to visualize the impact of 42 cows. You know, kinda like "we made enough plastic bottles last year to circle the earth 42 times". No one actually goes out and lays them end to end.... Scott

awww shoot. That really spoils it for me.

42 is an extremely cool math number. Given 27 same-size cubes whose nominal values progress from 1 to 27, a 3 x 3 x 3 "magic cube" can be constructed such that every row, column and corridor, and every diagonal passing through the center, comprises 3 cubes whose sum of values is... 42.

Here's a blog entry that talks to Big Jim's "crap": http://ninetymilewind.blogspot.com/ (in a different sort of way) Mark: 42 is sort of cool, isn't it? Kevin

"42 The number of cows farting for 42 minutes to equal the polution from one American made 1942 Cadilac driving at 42 miles per hour for 42 miles up a hill with a 42 degree grade."
42' Cadillac? I don't think there is a 42' Cadillac, that was during the war,(they weren't making cars in 42'). You may have to rethink your theory. Maybe a 52' Cadillac. Or you could just think of this as a DRIVEBY comment since I haven't been participating in this thread. Ben

There were actually 16,511 1942 Cadillacs made with production beginning October 1, 1941 and ending in February, 1942. 1942 models were the last American made commercially available models until the end of the war.

Ben I thought that too but I googled it before I made the post and yes they made a 42 cadilac but Cadillac entered 1942, its Fortieth Anniversary year, with the same 150-bhp V-8 and six series, but model choices were pared to 22. Gone were the two Sixty-One DeLuxes, the Sixty-Two convertible sedan, and the Sixty Special Town Car. Prices now ranged from $1450 to $4060. The 1942 Cadillac was -- and is -- fairly rare because output was halted on February 1 1942. The U.S. had entered World War II on December 8, just hours after the Japanese bombing of Pearl Harbor, forcing an industry-wide conversion to the manufacture of war materiel. And in fact, the U.S. Office of Production Management had ordered auto production cutbacks back in August 1941, to 73.5 percent of 1940 output.

Ben you were close to right. I knew they suspended automobile Manufacturing from 1942 til I think 46 but When I made that post I thought about it and Googled to make sure they actually made a 42. I thought they didn't either. They suspended there production in February 1942. So 42 Caddy's are very rare. But I bet they made a ton of Jeeps, LOL

I'm like that too Bill. If I make a claim and then find out that I was unsure of it I start checking my facts. It's an obsession. Of course I was wrong about the 42' Cad but I thought that all production was suspended in 42'. They also suspended production of kitchen appliances and washing machines. Ben

I know some of you guys have seen this before but here is a pic of my '53 Caddy, taken before I painted it bright pink. I think I painted it pink so that people would be distracted from the fact that it was a hearse. I don't think it worked. Cool math cube and Robinson photo, Lyle. Man, I'm tellin' ya, this number 42 is something! Scott

Tell me that isn't a 1942? If it is you still have it, you should be able to get some big bucks for that baby, specifically because there were so few 42's made.
I love it!

Nah, Jack. It's a '53. And, sadly, that picture is over 30 years old. It's long gone.... I paid $275 for it back in '76 or so Scott EDIT: All I have left of it is the steering wheel knob.....

Hey Bill, let me know when you go up to NSAI i'll meet up with y'all. I'm a "coordinator", for what that's worth. I'm fairly new / busy though and so I haven't been there too many times. I've only been like... 42 times. Was at the publisher pitch a few weeks ago but had to leave early. Plus i'm not really looking to pitch my songs, so you know.. I think I'll go check the Cow thread and see if Nathan gave us an answer yet
Answer for what again?

It was on the show 42, where terrorists were trying to drive a '42 Cadillac up a 42 degree incline at 42 miles an hour, while singing "forty-two bottles of beer on the wall...", but was stopped by 42 agents from CTU, who stopped them with 42 seconds to spare before a 42 megaton bomb was exploded 42 miles outside of LA.

That picture Mark posted was taken at the ammo dump on 42nd Ave, and County line 42.
