Since a project about our illustrious Founder is on Tampa Stan's mind a lot, there seems to be 2 different ways of going about it.
1. Stan's initial suggestion of a bio-pic...Which would basically be a Documentary...And Stan's right, I think, in that a lot of the 'footage' already exists and is waiting for an inspired Director/Editor to add some more interviews with some of the principle players and put it together in a cohesive form.
2. Turn it into a larger work of semi-fiction. But in order to do this, you need Protagonists & Antagonists...The little guys battling the big guys...It would have to be jazzed up a bit, because a film where 50% of the action would simply show our Hero typing away at his lap-top is simply not 'visual' enough:-)...And also, the Antagonist needs to be 'personified' into something more, or perhaps less, than "Big Fat Grammy People"...
I have more ideas than energy on this at the moment, but thought I'd at least toss it out there to make Stan happy:-)

HiDee Bro Bob!
Wee Bitta Further Insight:
Remember the "Woodstock" Footage? Consider it a Template...
And...maybe shoot alla Brian's Exploits/Endeavors getting the Next Awards Show in-order.
COULD Open with An Average Day, checkin' out The Website...then ON to Coordinatin' with Chapter Heads...then ON to Distributing CDs for Review..& On to The Bookin' of The Venue...etc...
(MEANWHILE, the Music-Submitted keeps A-PLAYING in the Background. Just think...around 2 HOURS of JPF'ers MUSIC run near-NONstop in an Indie MOVIE..oh, the Beauty of it All~)
Then..Vignettes of Various Awards Show Performers, maybe cut-in during their Performances that Night?
IF it's in L.A., like last trek out, a number of We-uns made a Side Trip to the Crystal Cathedral...& a Beachfront Restaurant in Malibu...(If ya need Side Action to break things up a bit.)
COULDA Interviewed John Brahaney & Wife...and Derek Sievers..Last Event...on "What Indie Music Means TODAY"...for Fun-Viewing. I'm sure there'll be More Experts again this time around...to interview/keep things interesting.
Shots of L.A.X. & The Freeways showin' Folks arriving & departin'.. A Drive Up The Hills to the HOLLYWOOD Sign... (& Don;t forget some of those Hotel Room Sing-a-Longs..Whee!)
Then end up with a Fatigued Brian & Crew...as the Event gets Cleaned Up After...& a trek down Sunset Blvd, curving past Restaurants where The Big Deals are Made..off to the EMI-Capitol Bldg, Concert Shell...etc./etc/ then Faded-Out while the Music Plays.
Oh..there's some GREAT Guitar & Music Stores in town WORTH the Footage..
AND...ya could ALSO weave-in Brian's recent Euro-Trek when you're Detailin' The Man Himself...(&..Maybe some of his Childhood Shots..& Memories..would perk it up early-on?)
OH..And Somewhere..early-on...run some of the Existing Footage on the Creation of the JPF Theme Song/Use the Result during The Credit Roll...
Geeze this Thinking-Things-UP is Great Fun...
DOES feel like a Lotta Hard Work..GETTING-It-DONE, tho!~
"JUST PLAIN FOLKS" sounds like a Very Workable Title...
OK...Stan's Happy...(Now back to My Bran Flakes...heh!)
(A Little ANIMATED CARTOON SEGMENT on Indie Demo Production could provide a bitta Comic Relief...somewhere's in there...)
(Oh..And It'd be GREAT to see ALL those CDs stacked up at CDBABY.com..& their Order Dep't....& TAXI in-Action (& Interviewed) TOO!!!
{Somebody Stop Me..I'm O.D.in' on this Fun~!}
Back to Breakfast...but IDEAS are My Forte, Amigo! Big Guy-Hug, Stan
PS: Further Brainstorms: Add-in some Footage of JPF Chapter Roadshows...some PineyFest Footage...& of course, SOME shot where Brian fades-out the Lens with a RED Baseball Cap!

Well, see, there ya go!...All we really need to do is drag a director/editor in on this and the derned thing's already 90% done... & I think having a 'Red Cap' become almost a character in itself might be fun...Like a Monopoly piece or something that appears periodically traveling against the background of map with "The Red Red Robin goes bop bop boppin' along"(or the JPF theme song) playin' in the background... AND...Ya open a Scene with JUST a JPF "Psychedelic T-Shirt" in-frame, the Zoom-Back to BRIAN, centered in the Screen, Officiating Whatever Event's bein' In-Process...
Yep..I agree that Red Hat's got REAL Potential, all through the Flick! (Oughta get a BUNDLE of Em for evabody a-singin' the "Theme Song", En-Groupe,..Upcoming Awards Show...)
Gsawrsh, Imagining alla This is Serious Fun!
(Now all ya need's a Serious Budget...heh!)
Hmmm...Brian COULD Invite some Real BIG-BIGNAME Singers/Groups to "Brighten Up" the Festivities next Awards-Show..(tho I dunno IF Brian'd LIKE That TOO-Much...) BUT...(Hey. when Ya IMAGINE Things It Costs Ya NOTHIN')...Let's Say McCartney/U2/Cher/Billy Joel and maybe Paul Simon all show up for The JOY of It...to Support Us OTHER Dreamers...& The Movie DOES end up a "Woodstock" of Sorts..WITH Names The Average Movie-Ticket-Buyin' Guy-on-The-Street REMEMBERS...
Why, Suddenly this GETS the Big Budget it'd require/We have One HELL of an Event/Etc-Etc-Etc!
Why SURE "It's Unlikely"....
BUT..So Was Woodstock! (And Postage Stamps STILL are Under-a-Dollar...heh!)
Waal..Once Again, It's Been Fun firin'-up the gray matter!
Best Wishes, Brother Bob! Big Guy-Hug, Stan

Most of the stuff that happens to me, especially out on the road, WOULD be a funny movie.. but people's feelings would likely get hurt if we exposed the truth in some cases... I've thought about writing a screenplay about it and trying to change the names to protect the innocent.. but in some cases, there's not doubt that folks would know it was about them and I am not sure I want to piss people off or make them feel bad if we have a laugh at their expense.. I wonder how screenwriter deal with that? I am sure that most write from personal experience and put their own lives into stories.. same with book authors..

Hi Again, Big Bro Brian!
Hey, ya only got around 2 Hours t'fill...so just expose "The Truth" selectively..& no need to worry about the hurt feelings...(If you're careful about it...heh!)
This'll un-reel best in Chronological Order...methinks...so: 1) Brian, The REAL Early Years... 2) Brian, The Musician... 3) Brian, The Corporate Dude... 4) Brian, The Travellin' Musico... 5) JPF Develops..The Website...The Music Awards...The Red Hats... 6) JPF, The Chapters Develop...The Affiliates Arrive... 7) Some Music Success Stories... 8) JPF..Euro-Trip...The Future...(The Theme Song/The Credit Roll...)
Prolly be easiest if Someone (Off-Camera?) Interviewed Ya/ Narrated...but You Be The Judge on that, Amigo!
These are, of course, just Off The Toppa My Addlepated Head tonight...& You probably got some even better "Headers" in-mind... But..it's "a Start"...(I'd hope)..on what could be a pretty Interesting Documentary...&...as you're "Making History"..it's allus a Good Idea to record it AS it's being made.
JMO, of course!
Best Wishes, Ol' Stan

Swap names locations & sometimes genders....If someone's late for a gig in Minnesota because their car battery dies, move 'em to Arizona & have the engine over heat...Or.... & this could be fun...Make an amalgam of various musicians and turn at least one of them into a desperate and decidedly untalented musician who follows/stalks Brian from city to city on a road trip, changing their style after each one in an effort to be successful. I'm a folkie, no, a punker...Wait wait, you want grunge? I'm Cobain re-incarnate...C'mon Brian, I can do boy band...You got connections, right? You can hook me up, I know you can. Don't make me take you hostage!!! Title?: Outta Tune in 50 States.... And what I've also learned, is that (some) people love to see themselves in movies. Even if you use them for comic relief, so long as you're not 'mean' about it...I actually based a couple of characters on some on-line friends and one response was, "Dude, I can't wait to see the fat actor who plays me!".....But then again, I guess not everyone has a sense of humor when it comes to themselves, so you'd have to choose carefully.
For instance, I'm pretty sure that I could have merciless fun at the expense of Bro Tampa Stan, but not of many others...I'd love to see me on stage after too many beers and an outta tune guitar & dying a painful death...
