Here's a fun little note - The silliest song I have ever written, "Please Don't Send Me Fruitcake" was cut by the vonTrapp Children a few years ago. They are now singing with many symphonies. "Please Don't Send Me Fruitcake" was performed last year by the Omaha Symphony, Indianapolis Symphony and at the Cincinnati Pops. I got to hear the Omaha Symphony perform it last year and I gotta admit it was quite a thrill This December, the song will be performed at the Toronto Symphony 12/11-12/2007 (3 performances), the Pacific Symphony in Coata Mesa, CA Dec. 12/13-12/15 - (3 performances) and the Atlanta Symphony (2 performances) 12/22/2007 I'm going to post our original version on my MySpace, just for fun, for the Christmas season. Visit - www.myspace.com/chergeneklosner. It's from our Ribbons and Pine CD - an otherwise non-silly Christmas collection) If you want to hear the vonTrapp Children's (tamer) version, it is on their Christmas with the vonTrapp Children CD. By the way, the vonTrapp Children are about the sweetest kids you could ever hope to meet - if you're in the Orange County, Atlanta or Toronto areas, they put on a real nice family show, singing lots of classic songs from "The Sound of Music" and such, and one REALLY dumb song by yours truly Thanks for letting me share these little successes - I love this group!!

I can see right now I've got to write better songs! There is this story about this hundred year old fruit cake going around. Who knows where it is now. Because it was made by granma, nobody wanted to dispose of it. Yeah, don't send me no fruitcake.

Thanks Uncle Chuck! You're too cute These are actually the great grandchildren of Maria and the Captain but have kept the legacy going, costumes and all. The oldest is around 19 and I think and the youngest is 13, give or take a year They tell lots of neat stories about the real Von Trapp saga (vs. the Hollywood version), and have incorporated lots of the Rodgers & Hammerstein songs into the show. Hugs to ya, Uncle Chuck! Cher

Congratulations.Christmas is such a short season to get airplay. I released a Christmas CD last year,it got some airplay locally and helped sell some CDs.So far this year I have yet to hear any of the songs being played, mainly the old standards, don't leave much room for new songs to become standards.I read where it takes ten seasons of promotion to get a Christmas song recognized. You can hear my Christmas songs on www.soundclick.com/newsflashsounds if anyone is interested.

You're right, Everett. "Please Don't Send Me Fruitcake" came out in 92, and more people are just hearing it for the 1st time in the last couple of years. I have several other Christmas songs from the same CD, but my latest Christmas song "I am a Carpenter", which hasn't been officially released yet,is generating some interest because of the internet (You can hear it on my www.MySpace.com/chergeneklosner if you want) So, you taught me something new today, Everett - I had never heard of Soundclick - just briefly popped over there, but what is soundclick, and how has sound click worked out for you? Looks interesting. Have a super day, Everett! Hugs to ya, Cher

Merry Christmas back to you. I went to your Stardust Lullaby site. Lovely. I especially like your rendition of White Coral Bells. (We used to sing that in Girl Scouts.) Beautifully done.

Thanks Jean!! That was always one of my favorites too. My Mom used to sing that to me when I was little - it was the first "round" I'd ever heard. After my son was born, that just became one of the "night-night" songs. Have a great day today, Jean, and thanks for visiting our Stardust lullaby website! Hugs to ya, Cher

"Parents are notorious for telling you not to do something, but not telling you WHAT to do instead. So here are my thoughts. Don't bite the hand that feeds you, give it a manicure. Don't burn your bridges, go out and build more! And of course, Don't run with Scissors, use them to cut out your press clippings!" -Brian Austin Whitney
