"ENCHANTED" is what happens when "Old Disney" meets "New Disney"... Hand-Drawn Cartoon Cels meet-up with Real Live NYC Action!
Held-Together with Susan Sarandon's excellently-villainous (Queen Narissa) spell-casting witchery, the fetchingly-beautiful Amy Adams (Giselle) gets sent off to Real-Life, fresh from frames that blend Cinderella and Snow White's best Disney-Cartooning Essence.
To retrieve Giselle, her-Chosen Prince Edward (James Marsden) intentionally plunges into the same Magic Well, along with an animated Chipmunk Sidekick (Whose Name I'll get, heh, when the Action Figure inevitably-arrives later, at the Toy Stores). The Entrance into The Real World is fittingly a Manhole Cover in Times Square, NYC.
Queen Narissa is in No Hurry for her Nephew, the Prince, to get "True Love's Kiss" & marry & inherit The Kingdom's throne out from under her. So, when she discover's the Prince has located his lost-Love, off she flies to The Big Apple, to put a Bite between the Throne-Threatening Lovers.
Plenty of Fun Scenes, as the naive Princess sorts through the Pea-Soup-Fog of Reality. The Equally Out-Of-Touch Prince brings swordplay to NYC Bus Ridership (Maybe Long-Overdue?) and there's a fabulous Ballroom Scene where Sarandon "Gets Busy" that's a Blast!
Can't forget how enjoyable it was to watch ol' "Dallas" Star, Patrick Duffy, work HIS Magic on this production, too. (Even cast as a Lawyer, he's a Great Human Being, Start-to-Finish!)
PG Rating, 'cuz "Giselle gets out of a shower and NOTHING is shown", Violence & Gore: "Typical Fairy Tale Violence, mild", sayeth "IMDB's Parents' Guide" for "Enchanted".
Kids WILL Enjoy it..tho felt to me more of an Adult's-Eye-View of "Can a Storybook Romance Survive in The Real World?" Disney's convinced me the Answer is "YES!"..(With a Wee Bit of Twist involved.)
It's an Enjoyable MUSICAL (Tho MANY a Schmaltzy Number gets pleasantly-interrupted) I better add. Lotta good Singin' & Dancin' Goin' On... Disney's Well-Parodied Itself here, & I'd rate it 7 1/2-outta-10.
(JMO)...Keep-or-Sweep!
Big Hugs, Stan

HiDee Mz Lynn, & Many Thanks!
My Wife & I are such Movie Addicts that I thought it'd be fun to write some reviews & see if Allied Advertising, the Marketing Folks behind the "Free Preview Tickets" here in Tampa, might end up givin' me "Credentials" & I wind up with Lots MORE Tix to see Lots More Movies down the pike!
I'm slowly getting to know all the "Regular" Critics who show up to these get-togethers...very interesting buncha people. Dunno if I'd like to HAVE to see Movies for a Living, tho...some of these flicks are "Stinkers"..(& by-choice, I've held-back & NOT penned Critiques on a couplea flicks.) (I HAVE a good Idea of How Much MONEY, TALENT, and WORK the Average Movie requires, having rented 4 of my floor lamps to the COCOON Movie & watched Ron Howard & Cast In-Action the day they shot the "Pool Scene".)
So..I allus view these with a "Sympathetic Eye" both towards the Makers...and Us Viewers. My "Taste" isn't all that Exotic, tho I get dragged off to a LOTTA French-Made Movies to please La Femme, so guess I can appreciate "An Artsy One"...IF it's basically Entertaining. I'm not too caught-up on Directors/Screenwriters/etc..so it'd better be Pretty Good ONScreen or I'll probably be less-than-thrilled. (Ain't it amazin' how a Great Script can make Unknown Actors into STARS overnight?)
I've tried to focus a bit on the Music-Involved, but it's not always easy to remember What Went Down as a Movie flys by..& lately I've usually let the Movie "Percolate" in my head overnight before penning the Review. So, advance Apologies to the Music Editor/Directors I've perhaps neglected so-far. (They always Deserve More Credit than they ever get.)
I also often neglect Detailed Descriptions of an Individual's Performance..(Because I'm not out to pen TOO-lengthy a Review/feel My Duty's to "let ya know IF it's a good flick or not") & in This Particular Review, I omitted detailing how Amy Adams did a really Great Job of her kinda-difficult role (Playing a Cartoon Character "Princess" morphing into a Real Live Babe!)..she's a Hoot..& tho some of the Gags Set-Up are REAL "Stretches" of Disney's Imagination (Like trying to get into a Billboard Castle) she brings the Scenes off Brilliantly, IMO.
So, feel free to Drop Me a Line, & I'll have An Excuse to Drop a Few More..heh!
Thanks for Your Very Kind Review of my reviews, & I hope to keep-'em-coming on a fairly-regular basis!
Big Hugs, Stan

I didn't have to see this to know what it would be. I am sure it was great for kids and tolerable for parents and that's a formula they repeat every holiday season with great financial success.

HiDee Fearless Leader & Welcome BACK!
Bet ya had a Whale of a Time watchin' Our Dollar Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Down! (I watched the $ go from $52 down to 28 Belgian Franks while we lived there, '70-73.)
Time to get home where Money STILL Buys Stuff, eh? ;-)>
This WAS "Typical Disney-Fare" but it's worth the $7 or so to see Susan Sarendon doin' her Evil Hag thing..(She's SO-Authentic her "Hag Makeup Artist" has a SEPARATE Credit at the end!) & like I mentioned, Patrick Duffy does his Good Guy Role to perfection! The "Prince" was a Hoot, too, never "Broke Character", even in the Real World.
There's a Scene where "The Princess-to-be" does her Sewing Skills with Duffy's Curtains to make a more "Normal" Dress to wear in the Real World. It's SUCH a tongue-in-cheek Disney-Gag, & the Rats scrubbin' out the Bachelor-Pad Toilet is a FINE Parody on the Bibbity-Bobbity-Boo of Snow-White-&-Co.
If this is an Example of Apre-Eisner Disney, it really SHINES! (& Since The World's just an hour away from us on I-4, I'm of course Thrilled!)
Maybe I can Sell "em a Song Someday..heh!
Big Thanks for the Visite, World-Travellin' Amigo! Big Guy-Hug, too! Stan
